We will be staying at AS on our trip in December and we received a letter saying that the Grand Slam Pool will be down for routine maintenance. Has anyone seen this info on any websites?

I have not seen it on any sites, but if you got a letter, that's the best way to find out, I think. At least Disney is informing you directly. I do know that you can always use the pools at the other All Stars when you stay at any of them. There are also the quiet pools available.

Surf's Up is the main pool at All Star Sports (and located next to the main building) so this may not be much of an issue at all depending on where your room is.
