Default Solo Trip Day 1: Resort Hopping

I was in Orlando on business last week and 2 days off so they had to be spent on Disney property, of course!

In an effort to save money, I spent my first day off resort hopping. I've always wanted to explore all the beautiful resorts but when there on a full Disney trip, I never seem to find the time. So glad I finally did it! It was such a fun day and I am definitely going to allow a day to go resort hopping again next time. I spent a total of $30 all day!

Started out getting complimentary breakfast and heading out on a free bus from my non-Disney hotel to the TTC...

    - 1. Walkway to the Polynesian: Strolled the Beach, Got a Dole Whip , Enjoyed the Lobby and the Smells of O'Hana
    - Monorail to the Grand Floridian: This is now one of my favorite spots. I sat on a bench near a beautiful fountain just taking in all the peaceful beauty of the resort. The lobby is incredible too.
    - 2. Monorail to the Contemporary: Loved the views from the Monorail and from the observation deck in the hotel. Got a nice iced coffee from Joffrey's and sat in the lobby for a bit. On a whole, I probably wouldn't be as likely to stay at this deluxe resort as I would prefer the GF, Poly or even Port Orleans Riverside first. But if you got a room with the right view - it'd be pretty neat and the convenience to the MK can't be beat.
    - 3. Monorail to MK to get Ferry to Wilderness Lodge: I loved the walk from the ferry up to the lobby with the waterfall and all. It's neat how the waterfall starts in the lobby and goes down to the pool. The lobby is so lush and reminded me of the Grand Californian a lot. I also visited the little clubhouse for DVC members which has a lot of Walt's train memorabilia which was neat.
    - 4. Ferry to the Fort Wilderness Campgounds: I always stayed at the cabins as a kid so to be back on the grounds was neat. I went in the Trading Post and got a mug. The skies were looking ominous though so I figured best to cut this one short and get back on the ferry and to cover!
    - 5. Ferry to the MK for Bus to Boardwalk: Lovely area. Rained like crazy so I relaxed in the lobby and charged up my phone until the sky cleared so I could walk around the boardwalk itself.
    - 6 and 7. Walked to Yacht & Beach Club: Loved the walk and all the flowers on the property. Another lovely resort.
    - 8. Bus to a park or DS (can't remember which) to get bus to Caribbean Beach: Have to admit I wasn't wowed by this one. I'm sure it's nice and maybe the rooms are awesome but the general setting didn't excite me much.
    - 9. Bus to Animal Kingdom to get bus to Animal Kingdom Lodge: Gorgeous! Loved watching the animals, the background music, the whole nine yards. I stopped at Sanaa to get some naan bread with the picked garlic side.
    - 10 and 11. Bus to Disney Springs (and a visit to the World of Disney store) to get a bus to Port Orleans French Quarter and Riverside: Loved both. So much ambiance. Very peaceful and kinda romantic. I enjoyed the riverwalk. I would probably choose to stay in the Riverside portion but both are beautiful!
    - Bus to MK to walk to Polynesian: Finished off the night by watching the Wishes fireworks from the Polynesian.

I've seperately been to All Star Movies and Coronado Springs so just a few to go.

I resort hopped on a previous trip, and I too enjoyed seeing the different resorts. The day was very relaxing. I finally saw the Pop and AOA resorts. It is a good way to spend the day if you are on a solo trip.

We really love to resort hop during Christmas time. The decorations are fabulous, especially the gingerbread house at the GF.

Very cool day, I have done that and I was laughing because I tend to resort hop alot when I am at WDW for business, but I never can save $ I end up seeing things i want and buying stuff I shouldn't.
Also, if you have a chance, go to the Swan and Dolphin, very different but worth a visit.
