    Question

Hi everyone, just wanted to get a little feedback. Im 6'1", 340lbs and was wondering what rides you would advise not to try to ride. Im sure attractions like Test Track and Thunder Mountain would be too tight but what about rides like Pirate of the Caribbean or Jungle Cruise? I thought I read somewhere that Tower of Terror was "weight friendly"? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

first off, Welcome to Intercot!! and now to your question...most of the rides are able to accomodate people of all sizes however off the top of my head alien encounter, space mt, and thunder mt might be a tight fit. but who knows? maybe you can ride these rides, just wait till you get there to find out! have a great time!

My husband is 6'4" and weighs anywhere between 270 and 300 (depending on the season, his mood, what sport season it is, what he ate for dessert). As he says, he isn't fat - just big all over! He has a tough time in some rides but he isn't excluded from any of them - he just finds things a little tight - he finds Space Mountain to be among the tightest. The problem is not really his girth, but because of his long legs. But, he is at Disney so he grins and bears it!

On rides that sit two-by-two he is lucky - I am small (5'2") so he gets my excess space!

Welcome to icot i'm 6'2" I find many rides tight because of leg space. I have seen some overweight people on most of the rides.

    Welcome!

From personal experience, I can tell you that I have never had a major problem in this area. Space Mountain is a little tight, as is Thunder Mountain, but nothing that prevented me from riding. The only thrill ride I've really never ridden is RNR (because I hate going head over heals). Other rides I haven't tried for one reason or another: Aladdin, Dumbo, Tea Party, and Speedway. I've ridden everything else in the 4 major parks.

I have never had a problem at Disney - I am not very tall, but I do have a large tummy (at least Pooh sized). I even did tube slides at Typhoon Lagoon (sorry-I can't remember which one specifically) the wonderful CM's took one look at me and very quietly said "just one minute, ma'am" - they slid the tube under me and WHOOSH!- I was away just like many of my thinner counterparts! I have never seen anyone turned away because of size at any of the rides. I have had some pain at Universal with the lap bars- the Back to the Future and King Kong HURT! But NO PAIN at Disney!!
    Have a Disney Day!

In the other thread that a link is already up for, is another link to a section of Deb's website (wdwig.com) called Disney At Large, and it is all about overweight people at WDW. That should be a big help to you.

I have never had a problem, other then leg room, on any Disney rides. If you were thinking of going to IOA, you won't fit on most of the thrill rides due to the combination shoulder harness with between-the-legs belts that lock into the shoulder harness. Had I known this beforehand, I wouldn't have gone to IOA.

I'm 6'2" was about 280...(down to 250)..anyways..as previous people have stated...Space Mountain can get tight..and Rock-N-Roller coaster was a little tight...hard to get the overhead harness tight..(feels loose)..or like it should be tighter..but after the first corkscrew the thing tightens up by itself...Test Track might be a little tight too..but everything else should be no prob..(trust me on this one..take up two seats on Splash mountain..unless ya have someone similar size to balance out the other side...or everybody looks back and wonders who is the one making the log lean sideways...*L*...and Pirates is no prob at all..lots of room on that one..like I said..probably Space Mountain..Alien Encounter and Test Track would be the bad ones..everything else is pretty weight friendly...and even those ya can still fit in..it's just tight

I have to tell you, I am 6'4" and 330 lbs and I have ridden every ride in all four parks except Dumbo and the Speedway. I and my DP, who is 5'6" and 340lbs. have not found any problem being able to ride ANY ride. Nor have we ever had a bad experience from either guests or cast members regarding our weight or the extra 5 second or so it occasionally take us to "unwedge" ourselves. A very few are somewhat uncomfortable and we are a tight squeeze in some of the rides that are 2 across.

The tightest, i think is Splash mountain. Remember, I say it is tight not that it is impossible to ride. Overall I am VERY impressed with disney and how they accomidate all types of people.

Also, remember that you can request to ride solo if you feel the ride will be too tight. We have never been denied this in the handful of times we have requested it for comfort.

My advise to you is GO FOR IT. Have fun. Ride every ride you want to. Live the magic.

ps. Test rack is very roomy and we have no problem with thunder mountain.

While I'm not large, I'm at that size that can interfere with some rides, like at IOA, but they have special seats for large people there. On the Hulk and Dueling Dragons, the third and fifth row, third seat in, has 2 belts and a larger seat. I was plesantly surprised at that. My sister was happy for me when we went on ToT because she loves airtime and it kept the bar off of her lap enough for her to get airtime while being safe.

Neither my DH nor I are small and we've never had any problems except on one ride. I don't know what the CM was thinking but she put 2 of us in one ship on Astro Orbiter. It was so uncomfortable and we could hardly get out. We laughed the whole time though because our ship wouldn't go very high with both of us in it. It's a memory that still makes us laugh but besides that we've never had any problems at all. Have a great time and take everything in stride.

I used to weigh in at 300-310 and I'm 5'11". I never notice a problem in Disney World on being unable to ride anything, but some were definitely tight. If I were you, skip Space Mountain. Tower or Terror is fine, but the lap bar is the same height for everyone in your row, so try to sit with other bigger people to avoid any little ones from slipping out of the seat. This is an honest concern. BTM, while it might be difficult, shouldn't be impossible to ride

.....or you could just sit in the back middle seat. It has a seat belt and is the best seat anyway.
