After reading WDWacky's reply on my trip report, I decided to give out my pointers on finding random/HTF characters.

#1. Skip AK, unless you ABSOLUTELY have to see Terk.

#2. Mid-late afternoons are generally good times to find random characters in an offbeat place. Try between 3-6 pm.

#3. (continuation of #2) Also, try weird places that you normally wouldn't think of. examples: IG at Epcot, NY Street at MGM, and Mickey's Floral at MK (during the times I posted)

#4. On random days (usually Saturdays, but they can vary), you can usually find random characters hiding at the Toontown teardrop. It's in the very back corner of toontown, where you can go no further and have to turn around.

#5. The back of expo hall. In one week I saw Mary Poppins, Ratcliffe, Princess Aurora, and Launchpad all there.

#6. Don't flood these areas. These are generally not crowded and will provide more magical moments for you and your families.

that's it for now, I'll post something else next week.

Thanks Rob. I have rarely been disappointed with Exposition Hall in MK. Now I have some new places to look.

But, even a mod has some questions...

    What's IG? What's Mickey's Floral?

    Thanks for the tips Rob!!

My teenage son and nephew met some wonderful CM's during our March trip..They were given lots of nooks and cranny tips, in which to find the characters in the various parks~

I'll make note of these for them!

    Beth,

Not Rob, but I think IG=International Gateway in Epcot. Have no idea where Mickey's Floral is located.

    Cool

Again not Rob....but I think "Mickey's Floral" refers to the big floral Mickey at the park entrance on the outside of the train station.

On the random days you are looking for random characters, do they appear at random times? Also, are the random characters always the same, or do they change at random?

    1) Over 90 characters and locations are on the Character Spreadsheet.
    2) Check Guest Services daily for exact characters and times.

Cancel that last one. Guest Relations/Services does NOT have any list whatsoever. All they can do is point you in the direction of a big m&g area.

Really? So where can you get an 'offical' list (if any)?

You can't. There is a tentative list, but due to staffing necessities, some characters may not go out, while others may. It's just the luck of the draw.

Thank you for the information. I actually enjoy the random meetings. They seem a little more special. Of course, it helps if I know what direction to look to find them.
