I had so much fun reading your reports! It seems like Tokyo Disneyland is a LOT like Disneyland in CA (I think that's intentional, though). I love the castle and especially the glass statues of Cinderella...so pretty!

I think it's sort of funny how all the attraction signs are in English, but then you said most of the audio is in Japanese? How weird...I wonder if that's due to stuff not really translating from English to Japanese properly...I mean, how would you say "Buzz Lightyear's Astro Blasters" in Japanese?

SO looking forward to your DisneySea report!

Remy: You gotta taste this! This is... oh, it's got this kind of... mmm, it's burny, it's melty... it's not really a smoky taste. It's kind of like a certain... Pshah! It's got like this " Ba-boom! Zap!" kind of taste. Dont you think? What would you call that flavor?
    Emile: Lightningy?

Wow you guys are so lucky to have gone on this trip!! It's like the 7th wonder of the world Disney style.
I am amazed at all the pictures you took and i'm living vicariously through them as i do not know if i will get to make a trip to Tokyo anytime soon. This park looks so amazing! It's so clean and the castle is just out of this world incredible. It looks like a cathedral. I would love to get married there.
I LOVE the theming at this place, they did a good job. I want to eat at that Queen of Hearts place! I also wish they made mickey burgers at DLR.
I see the japanese girls at DL wear those barette ears, i know what your talking about. Barettes and headbands but no ears or hats.

The one thing i found a bit strange from the pics was the queue for Pooh. The garden looked like there were dead weeds in it and the green structure part of the line looks like it should have been for haunted mansion or pirates or something, it didn't fit in too good.

Anyways, glad you guys had such a nice trip! Thanks for reporting

Hong Kong Disney was the same. They had English, and Chinese on most of the signs. Some of the attraction audio was in English, others Mandarin and Cantonese, then several were both English and Chinese.

Mel, another great trip report. Just reading and looking at the pictures makes me ready to go back to Asia. More China trips are for sure, I just need to talk my wife in a detour to Japan. Look forward to hearing about DisneySea.

Mel, I don't have the words to express how awesome your pictures are!

SUPER! Man I have travel bug! This report ROCKS so far!
Michael, I am thinking the same thing! Hmm...maybe I should exchange my tickets to Ireland for tickets to Tokyo!

Wonderful report as always, Mel. I appreciate all of the time and effort that it's taking to put these together.

Yes, I would think most of the attraction names wouldn't translate. But most all of the FP and warning signs were in both Kanji and English, like this Splash one.

There's a possibility the Japanese characters I put in my post won't display in certain browsers (but I include them for demonstration purposes)

In many cases when the names of attractions are written in Japanese (katakana) then they are written out phonetically- for example:

    ディズニーシー

would literally read and sound like deizuni shi (DisneySea)

And yes, Buzz Lightyear's Astroblaters is very difficult to translate into Japanese- it looks like:

    バズ・ライトイヤーのアストロブラスター

But when read it sounds like buzz raitoiya asutoroburasuta

During the grand opening ceremonies that made me want to chuckle a bit listening to the enthusiastic Japanese pronunciation of astroblasters since a strong emphasis was placed on the first syllable making it sound like they were describing some late night infomercial exercise equipment.

Thank you so much for writing this! It's been my dream for many years to go to Japan, and now I want to go even more. Your pictures are great - the park seems to be a combination of the best of Disneyland in California and WDW.
