    Default Funny Names

I just read an article about peoples names wether just funny names or humorus with their occupations. Here's some of them, do you know anyone with a funny name or one that goes with their jobs?
    - My sister’s name is Dragony, and she works in a pharmacy located in a medical building. Her license plate reads DRAGONY. Well, someone went into the pharmacy and asked the girl at the counter, "Who is Dr. Agony?" I still laugh when I think about it.

-My neighbor, who happens to be an anesthesiologist. Her license plate reads: EPIDURL.:
    - Years ago, I was office manager for a printing company that did work for the American Tobacco Co. in North Carolina. The purchasing agent's assistant there was a woman by the name of Flicka Ashe. Can you believe it!
-I have sold real estate for 18 years, and no one ever forgets my name. It's ... BETH NEWHOUSE
    - My grandma fell and broke her hip last summer and had to have surgery. Her surgeon? Dr. Mark Cutright! -
    - Here's an item that might qualify. It's from the Jan. 16 edition of our local newspaper: "Charles T. Sprinkle, 27, of Sandpoint was cited on a charge of urinating in public at 11:52 p.m. in the 200 block of Main Street."
    - My optician was named Ralph Glance, my daughter's allergist was Dr. Eitches, and my children's dentist is Dr. Spitz..
    - When I was in high school, there was a family with the last name "Braa." Guess what the mom's first name was? "Iona"!
    - When my sister and I were children, we'd play a game called "I Spy" during road trips from Georgia to Alabama. On one of them we spotted a septic tank installation and maintenance company named "Seth Poole and Sons."
    - I used to work with a young woman named Linda Snow. She met and married a wonderful man. When she did, she became Mrs. Snow-White!
    - My salesman husband was dealing with a particularly difficult client who demanded to speak to the boss. The reply: "I'll be happy to transfer you to him. His name is Robin Hood; if he isn't in, you can speak with his secretary -- Marian!" True story, real people.
    - This isn't occupation-related, but I thought you might get a kick out of it anyway. I went to school with twins Esther and Lester Chester and their big brother, Chester Chester Jr. And no, I'm not kidding.

This reminds me of that Seinfeld episode when the Proctologist had a license plate that read: A**MAN - too funny!

Some of the others mentioned make you wonder what the heck parents are thinking when they name their kids!!

When we lived at Camp Lejeune, NC, there was a fellow officer in the Marine Corps who lived down the street from us who's last name was America.

Yep - when he reached the rank of O-3, he was Captain America!

Oh boy! You've hit on a little hobby of mine ... for years I've had a mental collection of all the oddball names I've come across over the years ...

Here's just a random sampling of some of the best:

One of my best friends has an uncle named ... get ready for it ... Donald Duckwitz. True story ... I know the guy and have met him hundreds of times.

When I worked at Prudential we used to collect odd names of policyholders ... some of the best:
    • Shaker Shaker
    • Rusty Nipple
    • Phil Updegrave
    • Rocco Crocco
A woman my wife used to work with named her son Love Sofine ... that's first name Love, middle name Sofine ...

I always wonder, "What were their parents thinking??"

When I was young I had a penchant for breaking bones, thus we were on very good terms with the local orthopedic surgeons. There were four in the practice ... Dr. Jouls, Dr. Silver, Dr. Green, and Dr. Gold. My Mother used to joke ... yeah ... that's how they want to be paid ... jewels, silver, gold, and green!

These are hysterical Seriously though, what were their parents thinking!

I could tell you a few that my DH witnessed at baptisms when he was an altar boy in Central America, but they're in Spanish. Sorry... while living there, I did have a neighbor who named her son "Darling."

A friend of mine had an obstetrician whose name was Dr. Bozo.

There is a reporter on KYW News Radio here in Philly who's name is Richard Thorny, and he did go by the first name Dick until very recently. Lately I've heard him refer to himself as Richard. I can't imagine why he would change that

Someone that DH used to work with had a baby around the same time I had Emily. She named her Dallas Lama. Everyone used to joke that since people often shorten anmes for nickmnames. She would be known as Dali Lama!

Since my lovely wife started this thread, I thought I would drop one in here.

I played football in high school against a kid named Justin Payne.

I worked on the phones doing support for a while, we collected a lot of funny names.

Lots of 'Richards' who did not use the name Richard:
    - Skinner
    - Harty
    - Long
Then there is New Hampshire Congressman
    - Swett

Also worked with a Sugar Bacon.

And one of my all time favorites was a Korean man whose name was Kao Deng. It is pronounced 'Cow Dung'

Also one time called back to speak to 'Holly' and a very husky male voice said "speaking". But I was speechless for about 5 seconds. Then I found out that Holly was short for Hollingsworth.
