When you are in the check out line at Captain Cooks, just tell them that you want a Dole Whip. They will give you a small cup and you fill it yourself. If you are on the DDP, the Dole Whip will count as your Dessert or as a Snack.
I ended up with a sore throat when we were there in September & a Dole Whip definitely hit the spot!

Am I able to purchase an ice cream and get dole whip, at any time? It would be easier to get to, sometimes!

I want to make Dole Whip records this trip!

In all our WDW adventures, I never heard of a Dole Whip. We are driving up and staying at the Poly this weekend.

I'm going to make an effort to try a Dole Whip again - the first time I had it I didn't see what the big deal was and have skipped over them the past few trips. But I'm going to give it another chance and see if my taste buds changed any.

    ruh-roh. this isn't good.

i think i shall conduct an experiment soley for the sake of my fellow intercotees. i pledge to buy the self-serve dole whip on at least three occassions and attempt to pile as much dole whip into the "small cup" as possible. i will take photographs of the results so you can see how much dole whip you can get for one price.

i certainly won't enjoy this, but for the good of intercot, do it i shall!

In May, my boyfriend flew in at night to help me pack up and leave the WDW College Program. We knew that Captain Cook's was open 24 hours so we went there around 11:30pm or so. There wasn't much to choose from. Sushi, pizza, or desserts. But there definitely was a self-serve dole whip machine there! Enjoy!

Ok, but I'm not really understanding the self serve. Do you go get it, and then get in line and pay???

Nope I learned this the hard way one very crowded night during our trip which was during free dining. Anyhow you need to go the the cashier, tell him/her that you want a dole whip, then you'll pay for it and he/she will give you a cup to use. Then you go back and put as much in as you want. This was the first time I tried one and we all loved it.

    The self serve works:

You go to the Poly and ask the cashier for a cup for the Dole Whip. You PAY FIRST. Then you turn around and fill it to your hearts content.

Mine was about 6 inches. Having worked where making cones look good was a necessity...I've mastered piling as much on there as possible.

To relly like it, you have to really like pineapple or citrus fruits because it is going to have citrus juices in it...which is acidic.

I believe Captain Cook's is open 24 hrs a day. I know some places shut down their ice cream machines at night, but I hope they don't!

Funny this should become a topic for discussion. Self Serve Dole Whips, yes, we are very familiar with those! I think I got three at the Polynesian in September, they're so much better than in the park! We were shocked at just how small they made them in Adventureland!

You get in line, ask for a Dole Whip, either pay or use a snack credit, they give you a little plastic cup, and off you go! The grill at Captain Cook's closes at 11PM, but the place is open 24 hours, and so is the Dole Whip machine- we asked! It was so fun getting to make it however large we wanted, while still trying to fit it into the cup they give you!

    It's just the coolest thing!

What exactly is Dole Whip? I had one once and was underwhelmed. I am going to try a float next time. Can you get a Dole Whip Float at the Poly? Or just the regular Dole Whip? Since I am staying at the Poly next time I am going to have to try it again. Funny how Schoolbread and the Dole Whip are such Intercot favorites, yet not everyone loves both. I do love the Schoolbread. Maybe the DW float will be my next obsession.
