Default Question about Labor Day weekend

We are planning a trip to DW the 28th of August to the 1st of September. I’m sure you know this will be Labor Day weekend.
My question is this: How are the crowds?
I’ve read different things from different websites but trust the Intercot community the most!!
How are the crowds compared to say the week before Christmas? Or the week of the 4th of July?

The crowds are definitely lighter than the 4th of July or Christmas. You'll find the parks, particularly the Magic Kingdom are busy on the holiday weekend, but it's not as crazy as the other times you mentioned.

I didn't think it was that busy last year, but then again I'm used to summer time crowds. Even on Labor Day itself I was surprised at how un-busy it was.

My wife and I were at Disneyland last year on Labor Day and it was very uncrowded. We walked on to almost everything. Hopefully WDW is similar cause I'll be there this year on Labor Day too.

I think the busiest times at WDW tend to center around school vacation times (Thanksgiving, Christmas/Holidays, Presidents Week, Easter Break). Then comes the summer, which is fairly steady, with the biggest crowds probably on the weeks before and after Independence Day/Weekend.

Labor day might not be as crowded of a family vacation time for "big" vacations like WDW, partly because I think people are getting ready to go back to work and school. College students have already gone back to college usually be the last week in August. I think that might explain why Labor Day and Labor Day weekend might not be as packed as other holiday type weeks and/or the summer months.

I wouldn't expect the crowds to be thin like you might find in mid-September, mid-January, etc, but I personally think it will be like people in this thread have already said - relatively moderate crowds compared to the "big" holidays.

We go the last 14 days of August. We will be leaving WDW on the 28th. That is by design. It gets more crowded, at the parks and hotel for Labor Day Weekend. We used to come home on the Sunday before Labor Day, but starting that Thursday before, you would notice a big change in crowds, ride wait times, people in the hotel pool. That has been our experience.

We were there two years ago from Labor Day Weekend to the Saturday afterwards. Epcot was busy but manageable that weekend. MK EMH that Sunday was a nightmare - we are talking hour plus waits for many attractions. Of course, it didn't help that POTC had just reopened after an extensive refurb. AK was great. We didn't do DHS until later in the week.

If you are on site, make the most of morning EMH around the world. Also check for any special events (is the Tom Joyner thing going on this year?) and plan accordingly. We also found that using our own transportation (except to MK) during that weekend saved a good bit of time.

We went in 2005 for Labor day weekend. Stayed Friday - Monday and it was one of our best trips to the world. The MK EMH was really crowded (as they always are) but overall the crowd levels were really down. We are actually thinking about a last minute trip this year for Labor day to hold us over until our Jan. 09 trip
