Question Has anyone "woken up Tinkerbell"??

I read about this on one of Info Central's park pages, and think it sounds so neat -- my girls would absolutely love this, even at the "so grown up" ages of 7 & 10.

Do you have to literally be the first ones in the store, or do they do it more than once? Or do they wait for someone who knows about it to ask to do it? I'm planning on making a beeline there our first day and trying to get the girls to be able to do this, but I'm wondering if there are any "tactical" tips I need to help it happen...

I haven't done it but it's the first person that asks. And as it's not a "state secret" so a lot of people try. I've even heard of people pushing and shoving to get to do it.

If we have breakfast at CP at 8:20,maybe we can all witness your girls waking her at 9:00, or would that push it?

I went into the store one morning (not first thing, probably close to 10am) and although I was too embarassed to ask myself (being 30 at the time ) I mentioned it to a mom that was in there shopping with her daughter. So she went over and asked. They said that Tink had already been woken up, but perhaps if she were lucky, she would go for a quick flight around the shop. They let the little girl 'wake' tinkerbell again and she flew around the shop. It was really sweet to watch.
So unless someone has just done it . . . I wouldn't hesitate to go ask at any time of day!

I would also recommend that you ask at other times of the day. We were also in the store at around 10 a.m. and they let my daughter rewake her up. She didn't even ask. She has Down Syndrome and seems to receive extra, extra special treatment at Disney World. So I would say that it definately wouldn't hurt to ask.

    Good Luck.

Before our last trip I read on here about being the first in the shop to do it. However, we got there pretty late and they still took my daughter over and ler her do it. she wasn't the first but she loved it just the same. and she loved watching her fly around the room.

My twins woke Tink up last year. We were there as soon as the rope dropped and we walked VERY quickly to the shop and got there before they opened. The first day we tried it, we just missed it, but we tried again another morning and were first. It was cute and they each got a little certificate with their names on it. A nice little touch to the vacation.

    Good luck!

Just to echo what some have already said, definately try it at other times of the day. Also, don't be shy about your age. I asked when I was down there in late June and I am by no means a child! Wanted to see what it was all about. Very sweet indeed.

Thank you so much for all your replies... it's good to know that even if we miss the first chance, the girls may get a second one.

And Deb, that'd be a GREAT idea -- how fast do you think we could all actually get through that fabulous breakfast, though?? Maybe we'll get lucky...

    Hi Blythe,

We had the first seating for breakfast at CP. We ate and were at the rope for the rope drop under the castle. Our boys were not the first in the shop but they were the first to the cash desk and therefore the first to ask to wake up Tink! Harry even got a certificate to say he had asked to wake her up.

That all said it was like a zoo at the rope. Had it not been for me walking behind the boys they would have been run over by not only the kids running but some surly adults.

Brian! I don't know if you'll see this note, but if you ate at CP, why did you have to leave and go outside the park again for rope drop? Was it b/c you guys ate so early and were done? We're eating there at 8:20 w/ the JQ crew and are assuming we will still be in the restaurant after rope drop... but if we're not and are done, do they escort you back out??

That's so cool you guys got to do that... I hope we can pull it off!

(Nice to see you back around, btw!)

We didn't have to leave the park at all. When we were finished we left the restaurant and walked to the castle. While the park was still closed to the general public, we were able to go to the rope under the castle right by CRT. Watching the main gates open just before 9am was a sight!! A huge sea of people coming right up Main Street right towards us! But the rope droped before the crowd got to us.

Oh and I never really left. Of course except for the time we were in DLR!

When we were there in April, we wandered through the shop and I asked a CM about it. She told me that it doesn't have to be the first one, and that very morning they let nine or ten girls do it, and gave them all certificates. We're going to try to do this when we go in September. My 3 yr old has Tinkerbell on half of her clothes and all over her walls. Her lanyard is covered with TInkerbell and Marie pins. She would absolutely LOVE to do this.

    Default question as well

Is this in Tinkerbells shop in Fantasyland??

Yes, this is at the Tinkerbell shop in Fantasyland. There is a set of drawers with a keyhole, and they give the person waking Tinkerbell up a wand or baton or something (I believe) and they get to tap the drawer and they say something. Once they do this, Tinkerbell flies around the walls (well, you don't really see her) with some sound effects and you've then "woken her up".
