Default The Knights Storm the Castle - Day 6

    Cast:
    Me, DH - Phil, DD13 - Stephanie (also an Intercotee - Pixiepower330), and DD8 - Megan

    Extras:
dolphinmickey9170 and family - Kristen, Ben, Katy, and Keara
    CaptainJessicaSparrow - Jessica

Today, after finally enjoying a cup of coffee in our room, we head off to DHS. We slept in a bit today and the mousekeeper was knocking at our door before we were ready to leave. She was German and spoke very little English - I had a hard time getting her to understand we were leaving in about 20 min - I hope our room gets cleaned! DHS this morning wasn't the original plan but it's our only other day here and we want to ride TSM so off we go to get FP's - at shortly after 10:30a, our FP time is 3:40p! We briefly considered riding but the wait time was already 60 min and we didn't want to wait. We plan to go back to see Mickey but Stephanie talks us into the Backlot Tour instead - Mickey will just have to wait! As we walked into the Backlot line, Phil lagged behind a bit and was approached by a CM asking him if he'd like to be in the show! He was taken "backstage" and the rest of us were asked to wait just outside the door at the front of the line. Another family soon joined us - 2 of them were participating as well. We were escorted to a spot in the front row were we would have the best viewing of the show and soon the "stars" were brought out - there was Phil, all decked out in his raingear. Lucky him, he was seated in the little cabin and the other 2 participants were manning the ship. Now having seen this before, we knew what was coming but he said it was still quite a shock to be slammed with all that water! And those rainsuits don't work - his left side was soaked! When he returned to join us in line, he said the girl who gave them their cues and led them out was asking him where we were from. It turns out that she grew up less than 4 miles from where we live in the same community! After the Backlot, we went to visit Mickey then headed over to catch an Indy show. We just made it in - standing room only although we did end up getting seats. However, Mother Nature decided to not cooperate and it started to rain - hard. They started the show but could only get through the first act. They tried to extend it out in hopes the rain would stop but when it didn't, they cancelled the rest of the show and we had to leave the theater. We tried to wait out the rain in the Indy gift shop but it wasn't stopping - of course, the ponchos were in our room. We headed over to Backlot Express to grab some lunch - still raining when we were done - so we went for another trip into Hollywood's greats on GMR where we got the cowboy scene again - we've never had it before and now we got it 2 times in 1 trip! It finally stopped raining and the temps actually cooled off significantly - well, cool for central Florida in August. I took Megan to see Playhouse Disney, a show not designed for anyone over the age of 30 since you have to sit on the floor. Phil and Steph went to ride RnRC but ended up on ToT instead due to wait times. We finished up here and headed out to AK. We headed off to the trail, starting on MJT in Asia. The tigers were very active. Stephanie was thrilled to see the Okapi so close to the front - it's her favorite. There was only one hippo visible but it moved from the back where it was a murky shadow to right by the glass. The meerkats were out foraging and many of the animals seemed to be anxiously awaiting dinnertime. Unfortunately, the gorillas had already gone in for the night so we didn't get to see them. I can also confirm what many have suggested - it's definately much hotter at AK than any of the other parks. It was much cooler when we left DHS! We had enough of AK and the heat so we left and headed off to Epcot (where it was also much cooler than AK when we arrived) - however, the bus line was huge so when a bus to the TTC pulled in first, we hurried off to that one (the next stop over) and decided we'd ride a monorail instead. We rode SSE for the first time since the rehab - we liked it but got stopped in near the end which is pretty boring. We really didn't end up doing much but grabbing a few snacks and watching Illuminations. We have a full day planned at Epcot tomorrow - with another meet as well - so we headed "home" and off to bed - fortunately, the mousekeeper had come back and cleaned for us.

The last time Lou went with us he got chosen to be in the show at Backlot too...Lou hates, hates, hates water and guess which spot he got! The kids and I were laughing our heads off! I think in 12 years of marriage, that is the most water (that is not a shower) that I have ever seen Lou in!
