Union Tank Fun Day

It was almost 1 year ago to the day that Chad joined the band and we played at the Union Tank Car Facility's Family Fun Day... this weekend we returned!!!

We had some sound issues - We blew a horn on our PA speaker (Chris always carries spares, so during some giveaways by UTLX we swapped out horns) and we were placed at an odd end of the parking lot which meant the sound bounced and carried weird. It was also HOT!!! Very HOT!!! I hadda roll my sleeves up and show off some ink... And again the sun kept creeping under my end of the tent - but this year I moved my guitars so the sun wouldn't affect their tuning! Steve's cowbell popped off of his drumset while he was using it (and we had no idea) so he carried on by holding it and playing with his other hand! We threw sticks and picks and the usual paraphenalia...

It was still fun and at best guess we think there was about 600 people this year.

Sounds like you had a good time and you have a talented drummer there to play a cowbell and the drums at the same time

We always tease him with the "We need more cowbell" line - this time I guess he took us too literally? Last weekend at LC the crowd was prompted (by my big mouth) to shout that line during certain songs... I think we've created a monster!!! He IS quite talented though - perhaps the best I've played with in 27 years!
I forgot to mention my voice cracking- when the horn blew I couldn't hear myself so I compensated by trying to sing louder. Once the horn was fixed, vocal strain had already set in and I was getting dehydrated. I drank several bottles if water and even sucked on some ice on breaks and it came back enough for the big numbers that feature me belting out in the high range.
