Talking Where to scuba in Key West ....

We are hoping to leave for our trip to WDW in about 9 days. In the middle of our trip we are driving down to Key West. The "we" I speak of is DH,BIL, SIL and me . Three out of the four are trying to plan some fun scuba diving adventures. DH and I just got our scuba certification at the beginning of the month and are excited for some tropical diving. So I was wondering where some good locations for scuba diving were. I'd love to do some shore diving as well as reef diving. Also if there is anything real fun to do at Key West we are open for suggestions. Any input is great, I'm excited to see your responses.

    Hello SB 77:

As a fellow diver I have been able to enjoy great experiences at a couple of locations in the Keys.

One of the easiest, and offering a wide variety of snorkel and scuba options would be to research the John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park. It is located off of Key Largo, so maybe not the most convenient to your travel plans in reaching Key West, and your non-diver companion's options while you dive. Although I believe some trips have a combination of scuba and snorkeling drop sites. They may enjoy the surface action, while the others head deeper.

You might check-out the Key West Diving Society or Key West Scuba as added resources that are located on/in Key West proper to assist in selecting an outfitter that would work everything you need into your plans.

Nothing more need be said about finding good times in Key West as just mentioning the street characters at the sunset rituals, or visiting a bar or two - to people watch - of course. These options should easily fill any spare time you will have out of the water.

Default Scuba in the LIVING SEAS

Are you scuba'ing in the Living Seas?
DH has done this 2 years in a row. He LOVED it. Everything that you hope to see out in the Ocean is in there. Sharks, Rays, HUGE turtles, fish, etc. and the best part is that other family members can watch behind the glass. DH just did this, and the CM was telling him that it is pretty bookked on the w/e's w/ locals who come over and over.
