Default Crowds - Jan 1st to Jan 4th

    Hello,
With New Year's falling on a mid-week this year, we are thinking of switching our current planed dates of Feb 27-Mar 9 to Jan 1st to 10th to take advantage of the cheaper hotel rates. My question therefore is what kind of crowds should I anticipate from Jan 1st till Jan 4th (Thur-Sun)? Will it be as bad as the week between Christmas and New Years?
    Thanks!
    Richard

Last year the first until around the 4th or 5th was reallly, really crowded. We haven't ever been at Christmas, but we flew in on New Years Day last year and stayed until the 7th. We had fun but I wouldn't do it again.

I believe that Jan 1-4 will be crowded. With the way the holiday falls, most schools I know of will be closed until Jan 5.

Yep 1st thru the 4th will be busy. If you can, the 2nd week in January to the 2nd week in Febuary is a good time to go. I've done it alot.
If you do the switch do it ASAP. You may not have alot of choices this close to those dates.
    Good Luck.

I would expect that kids won't return to school until the beginning of the week after the 1st so I'd expect that weekend to be very crowded.

Last year it was very crowded. I haven't been at Christmas, but I don't think it was near that bad. It was not shoulder to shoulder with people, but the wait times were kinda long. And, it was freezing in January 2008!! But, nothing keep the crowds away from the parks.

That being said, we are going again this year. It is our only time to go because of school schedules. We just go before park opening and use fast passes. We can get alot done in the mornings. The afternoons wait times are long so we just enjoy walking around and doing things we normally wouldn't do. I'm not big on waiting in 60 minute lines.
Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take but by the moments that take our breath away...

    ** Next Trip January 2009!!!
