Default MK to Contemporary - Walk or monorail?

Hello, thinking of trying out the new Contempo Cafe for a counter meal during our next stay. How long is the walk from MK to the Contemporary, and am I better off doing the walk or taking the monorail?

It is really up to you. I have done both. The walk is not that bad at all. It would be a good idea if the wait for the monorail was kind of long.

My WDW rule about walking is:

If it physically can be walked, it's often the fastest way to go.

I always walk from MK to the Contemporary on my way over to WL or FW.

Add my voice to the chorus that says walking is probably the fastest and easiest thing to do. Of course, if there is no line waiting for the monorail then that is a different scenario.

The walk is 10-15 minutes depending on your pace. It can take a little longer if you're looking at the bricks as you walk along though.

    Default kids or not?

We did the walk b/c the monorail was down...the kids were 2 and 5. It was a little difficult to do the walk and make the ressie on time. We did it, but were rushing. If you have kids and are on a time limit take the monorail, if you have time to enjoy the walk do it!

I would definitely walk, weather permitting. It's about 10 minutes to walk from the MK exit to CR. It'll take about 5 minutes just to walk the other way to the monorail station and then take the monorail ride to the CR.

I measured this once, using my favorite runners' website.

If you are taking a bus to MK, the walk from the bus area to Contemporary is SHORTER than the walk from the bus area to the monorail platform.

If you are walking out of MK, the monorail platform is a MUCH closer walk than Contemporary.

Just in case anyone is keeping score at home ....

The walk is pleasant. Take a peek at the monorail area before your walk, if there is no wait, and the monorail is approaching, hop on! Otherwise, the walk is easy. When we stayed at the CR last Thanksgiving, I would do the walk to the MK while my family was in the pool. It was calm, quiet, and actually fun.
