    Default Galaxy Palace Theater Demolition

Seems as if the Galaxy Palace Theater is finally going bye bye... Construction walls have been placed around the theater.. De-construction shall be commencing shortly...

What is going there?? A PARKING LOT FOR MANAGERS?? If that true?? Seriously??
Son of Jor-El.. Kneel before Zod...

TRICIA JONES: I heard that you were going to propose to Brandi Svenning at some theme park. When are men going to learn that women want ROMANCE, not Mr. Toad's Wild Ride...

BRODIE: Hey, now, be fair. EVERYONE wants Mr. Toad's Wild Ride.

The only picture of constructions I have seen near Galaxy Theater has been the beginning of work for the new Stitch Celebrations show to be built sometime this year. I read in a post (here or elsewhere, I dont recall) that the galaxy theater isnt going anywhere.

9-1983 - Fort WIlderness Campground in an RV

    10-1988 - Off property

    1991 - Off property

    12-1999 - All-Star Movies

    03-2003 - Port Orleans - Riverside

    12-2009 - Coronado Springs

I look forward to my next trip.

Ok, I asked a few people and they said that there are walls around the theater... that demolition is scheduled but they weren't sure when... My friends wouldn't lie, I don't think... Maybe someone can confirm for sure??

Considering there is already a parking lot for managers there, I don't see why there would be a need for another one. The space wouldn't create any real difference.

It might also be holidays coming down. Today was the last day for decorations and music (thankfully...I am so SICK of Pooh's 12 Days of Christmas and depressing, suicidal version of Aude Lang Syne or whatever).

According to Jim (consider the sourse) Hill, it is supposed to be an expanded parking lot. Who knows though, I doubt it's anything to enhance the guest experience though...

    I think that's a pretty safe bet.

In fact, if they're replacing an (admittedly rarely used) guest area with a parking lot, I think you could argue that they're actually de-enhancing the guest experience.

I don't even see why that's a consideration. You'd only fit maybe 10 spaces at the most. That's not even worth it and wouldn't make a difference. What a waste.

I'm sure this is a dumb question: Where is the galaxy theater? Is it the open-air theater in Tomorrowland?

And what will Stitch Celebrations be? I don't recall hearing/reading about it before. (My fam and I all seem to be "allergic" to Stitch, so whatever it is will not likely excite us . . . . )

    Thumbs down

So they're going to 'reduce' the size of the Magic Kingdom by adding a parking lot, rather than replace the rarely used theater with a new attraction? Doesn't seem very 'magical'.....

Well, again take this with a grain of salt considering it came from Jim Hill, but the rumor (and I stress the word rumor) is that it's in preparation for ultimately installing a new E-Ticket in Tomorrowland in the space currently occupied by the theater/CoP/the old Skyway Station.

The parking lot is allegedly just a placeholder.

But keep in mind that Pooh's Playful Spot was reported to be a placeholder in Fantasyland, too, and we see how quickly they rushed to replace that with a real attraction.

It's the open area between the exit from Buzz and CoP. If you are facing forward on the TTA and look down to your left, you can see the rows of metal seats for the theater.

It's where they show Mickey's Night Before Christmas and I think various school groups throughout the year.

The TTA passing a parking lot isn't good.

    It seems "un-Disney like".

Well I don't know what they are doing but I do know that when I was riding the TTA on Tuesday I noticed that all the seating had been removed from the theater.

Something I do wonder though what will become of the Mickey's Twas the Night Before Christmas show that took place there during the MVMCP. It was a really good show and I would be sad if it was removed from the Christmas Party all together.

I have a feeling it may be moved to DHS, that new indoor theater they created where Hunchback was... Unless it is part of the entertainment cuts..

I think they should just bring back Hunchback, it was an amazing show. Much better than BATB, IMO.

I agree.. As much as I love Beauty and the Beast, the show in DHS is blah... Hunchback was awesome..
