Default Well, I guess when you lose all 16 games....

...the only thing to do is change your logo!

    IMO, an improvement.

    New Detroit Lions Logo.

I guess it's okay, but I'm a bit of a traditionalist. I'd prefer the old one.

Then again, I also wish the Tigers still played at the corner of Michigan and Trumbull.

Now, didn't they also change front office personell ? isnt Martin Mayhew their new GM ?
Dont they have a new coach ?
Why not change the logo ?
Look at it from a marketing standpoint.
Lots of new jerseys , caps & T-shirts to sell.
Then if the fans don't like it - after about 5 years they can switch back to the old one, and have all sorts of new stuff to sell with the 'new' old logo on it. (new old logo- who do they think they are - the jets ? )
You have to figure, they want to generate some excitment off field, before they generate some excitement (good or bad) on the field.

    GO TEAM.

I already bought DH a new Lions shirt (before this new logo came out).

    Across the front, it says:
    Detroit Lions
    Rebuilding Since 1957

On the back, it says "Perfect Season", followed by a game-by-game breakdown of last year, including teams and scores.

Yes, they have a new coach. Yes, they got rid of Millen last year. However, they still have the same ownership, so my hopes aren't too high. The best thing that could happen would be for the fans to revolt and quit buying stuff, stop attending games, etc. Nothing short of that will convince the owners that we are fed up with mediocrity. I hate to think how they will waste that #1 pick in the draft.

I won't be buy any other Lions merchandise until they start to do something, anything, positive!

being a Jets fan- I feel your pain.

New coach/gm might help. Usually the owners dont pick the players. Getting a new owner is not a guarentee for success. Look at the redskins & Dan snider (I dont know if I am spelling his name right)- New owner- threw money around like he was funding the national budget and still has not produced a winning team.
Remember it takes more than 1 person to make or break a team. For success you need - Team chemistry, A coach who the players believe in, a great amount of luck (like not having your star reciever shoot himself in the leg), and a minimal impact from injuries, plus a good offensive/defensive system and...and...and... (feel free to ad your own points).
The point I am making is- there takes a lot of effort to make a team good or great. The owner can be an integral part of this process, but more often than not it is the coachs & GMs who make the hard decisions.

Lastly, even if team revenue fell, there is still the lucritive TV deal.

    In other words- Your stuck.

Oh and as far as them doing anything positive- If they win a preseason game does that count ?
If they go 1 & 15 does that count ?
I mean they would have a better record than last year...

Only a few more months to training camp.
So right now- My team is undefeated !!!

I agree, an owner isn't the only factor in making or breaking a team. However, the Lions' owner has been notorious for:

    1. Sticking with people (Millen) far longer than they should, hoping they will come through;
    2. Overruling those same people in whom they supposedly have so much trust on draft picks, trades, coach choice, etc.;
    3. Putting more stock in whether or not they (the owner) personally likes someone than in whether they have the skills to do the job. This applies to front office, players, coaches, etc.;
    4. Considering a extremely mild improvement (from two victories to three or four in a season) enough of an improvement to stick with the players, coaches, etc.

    mode on

William Clay Ford bought the team around the time I was born in the early '60s. In my lifetime they have won exactly one (1) playoff game. I'm not sure what kind of improvement we can expect this year. Not much, I'm afraid. I wish they could deal that #1 pick rather than waste it on another QB who isn't going to step in and take us to the playoffs in one year.

    Sorry, I'll stop venting now.

I too have been hearing "wait till next year" (or something along that line) for over 40 years. I've had enough and no longer watch Lions games.

I wouldn't dream of wearing, much less buying, any Lions apparel - new or old logo.

As long as the team is owned by the Ford's it's a toothless and clawless Lion!!!!

Being a fan of a poorly performing team you have every right to let us hear you, and you might just find many a sympathetic ear

Question for any lions fans- how good is your offensive & defensive lines ?
Because if the O line is not up to snuff, than it doesn't matter who is behind them - either a great QB or RB.
It all starts on the line (O & D).
If your team needs a franchise QB, making sure the O line is good must be the 1st priority.

    Also,
Who do you think they will take in the draft ?
    Other than a new LOGO

Looks like it won't be Aaron Curry, which is fine by me after Jeff relayed his concerns about the team.

Their lines both are terrible. That's one of their many, many big problems. It's also rumored to be one of the main reason that Barry Sanders walked away. I can't blame him, but I didn't like the way he did it.

Anyway, what they really need to do is beef up both lines. Unfortunately, history says that they will take a skill position player, probably Matt Stafford. I'm not saying he's a bad pick, exactly, but I don't think that's what they need. They need an experienced QB, not a rookie. Just my

BTW, thanks, Jeff, for agreeing about the ownership!

Look at how much it helped Tampa and Denver to change uni's and logos, then both won superbowls not long after the change.
    16 trips to "The World"

    Last trip - April 2018 - Polynesian
Next trip to WDW - December 2018 - Beach club

"Disneyworld will never be complete. It will continue to grow as long as there's imagination left in the world."

True, but what about the Jets, Falcons, Bills, Chargers, Bengals, Eagles, Dolphins, Saints & Seahawks? LOL...
