Need some help- What are your kids/teens watching?

Hi everyone!

I'm doing a project for my adolescent development class and need to find TV shows that are popular with kids between the ages of 11 and 16. I tried Google, but I'm not getting anything really satisfactory, so I thought I'd survey you.

What are your kids watching? If you could tell me some of their favorite shows and their ages it would be amazingly helpful!!

Hi! My kids are 15, 13 and 9. The oldest two are girls and since they are in the age group you are researching, I'll tell you what they are watching.
American Idol
Hannah Montana
The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack
Total Drama Island
Jon and Kate plus 8
These are some of their faves!

My daughter is (almost) sixteen and you would be surprised by kids at that age.

She doesn't watch much TV but she loves:

Friends (syndicated reruns)

Yo Gabba Gabba (a show designed for much younger kids- this is all the rage among her friends).

America's Next Top Model is a guilty pleasure.

Travel Channel Shows, like Samantha Brown's and Anthony Bourdain's, and Adam Richman's Man vs Food.

She doesn't love American Idol but she will watch with me sometimes. And none of her friends would be caught dead watching Hannah Montana or any of the family Disney shows. (though who knows, maybe some of them protest too much, but not her).

I have 2 boys, ages 12 and 7...I'll break it down for you since they are polar opposites!

12 year old watches:

The Daily Show
The Colbert Report
Ghost Hunters
Star Wars:The Clone Wars (cartoon)

7 year old watches:
Hannah Montana
iCarly
Spongebob
Drake and Josh

anything on Disney channel or cartoon network
Their not picky, unless it's been a re-run they've seen a million times
they also like the nick at nite stuff like HomeImprovement and Gerorge Lopez

My 12 year old also likes the Battle 360 on the history channel
Honestly they'd rather play video games than watch tv, but we have "no video game" days in our house so their forced to do something different

I mostly watch things on Disney Channel and Nickolodean.

-Any show about the Disney parks
-Scooby Doo

She also has shows that she detests and they way she puts it, "shows that make her want to punch kittens" (she would never hurt a kitten, so no worries...she just can't stand these):

-Any show with people arguing about politics

Honestly, she spends more time watching movies with her boyfriend than watching tv now.

*Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series
*Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles
*Travel Channel - anything except Zimmerman and his strange food stuff (he loves all the Disney Specials & Cash & Treasures show)
*Ghost Hunters
*Star Trek Reruns (all series)
*Any Cheesy "B" Show that Sci-Fi deems to put on TV on Friday/Saturday night


Movies seem to be of more interest to DS these days . . .

I teach a bunch of 13 year olds. The girls like Hannah Montana, Idol, iCarly, Dora the Explorer, Jon and Kate + 8, America's next top model.

Boys watch South Park, Family Guy, and MLB.
