    Default AK Lodge

Tell me your favorite thigns about it! We're booked for February. I've heard about the night vision with the animals but I want to make the most out of our stay...Thanks!

Also, anyone have any experience with the Quick Service restaurant there? Thoughts?

    Default Animal Kingdom Lodge

Our family very much enjoyed our stay here last March. We spent most evenings around the pool and always took some time to view the animals from the "rocks". It was a unique experience that we all still remember.
The resort offers good themeing throughout. The quick service restaurant was very good, one of the best I have experienced at Disney. We would strongly recommend an evening buffet at Boma's. The entire family (boys ages 13 and 9) enjoyed the variety and the unique dishes offered here, and they are both picky eaters.
I found the cost to be expensive with the rooms somewhat overpriced. You are paying a premium, no doubt, for the animals. Our room was a long way from the entrance, but that was just the luck of the draw.
After having said all this, I would recommend a stay here as a worthwhile experience, but for us, at least, once is quite enough. We will, however, be returning to Boma's.

The quick service restaurant is wonderful. We love their selections and relative calm so much that we travel to the resort to eat there (easy with our two toddlers) even when we are staying elsewhere. Boma (buffet) is great. Plenty of exotic and recognizable food. Jiko is wonderful if you want to splurge on table service. Not a bad place for kids but I have to admit the toddlers have never been there. Great wine list.

Thanks for all the responses! I'm so glad to hear about the food, that was my concern. I really wanted to stay at Wilderness lodge but my family vetoed me and I was just mainly concerned about the food. We're definitely going to try Boma!

    Thanks again

I agree that the counter service (Mara) at AKL is probably the best on property - very good food and selections. The resort itself is one of our favorites. Be sure to take time and talk with the cast members at the resort. So many of them have such interesting stories about their home countries and how they have ended up spending time at Disney. And DO NOT miss Boma!! Have a great time!

We have stayed her twice and loved it both times. Would've stayed here again this trip, but DM is going and they don't sleep 5 to a room.

Boma's is wonderful, one of our favorites.

My kids loved to bring binoculars to look at the animals from our room.

    Enjoy your trip!

Our friends stayed there last year and loved it.

In the early evening they do a kids' parade around the lobby with hand musical instruments (tambourine, hand drum, etc.).

There also are storytelling sessions around the fire pit by the main savannah.

The soups at Mara are great.

From the minute you enter the atrium you will see one of the best themed hotels at WDW.

The pool is really nice - one of the cleaner ones I have frquented.

I also really enjoy the bar area.

There are plenty of activities organized for the kids and of course the animal views are wonderful.

    Enjoy!

When we stayed there, it rained...A LOT. It actually made our choice of hotel better. Everything is in the one main building that your room is in, shopping, restaurants. We had plenty to do and eat without having to venture across a sprawling resort property and end up soaking wet.
