Question Fastpass if not in resort?

I'm going to Disney the first week of March with a few friends but staying at one of their timeshares in the area (not at a Disney resort). Would we still be able to get fastpasses for rides or is that a perk only for those who stay at resorts? Thanks!

Fastpasses are for all park guests. You do not have to be staying at a WDW resort to make use of the Fastpass system. Have a great trip!

Exactly! You will use your park ticket in the FastPass machines, and there are no issues or differences whether or not you are staying on-site.

It's different if you are going to that "other" place across town.

Actually it's not. Their fastpasses work exactly the same way... the diffrance is that if your a resort guest don't need a fastpass you just show your room key and get in the fastpass line. They can do that because they have FAR FAR les beds than WDW does.

Have they changed? I went there last December and there was no attraction I saw with a FastPass. As far as I know, if you want access to the equivalent service you need to pay a premium of $20 per person or more...VERY different from Disney!

Actually, Disney and Universal handle things very differently in this area. If you stay at one of the Universal hotels, front-of-the-line privileges are included. If you don't stay at one of their resorts, you can purchase front-of-the-line privileges. Plus front-of-the-line privileges have no restrictions at Universal - you can go from attraction to attraction and just get right on.

Disney has the fast pass, which is not limited to WDW resort guests, is not something you can purchase, and is time restricted (there is a time requirement that must be met before you can get another fast pass).

Unfortunately it's a common misconception that you need to be staying on-property at a Disney resort to utilize FastPass. If you are unsure of how to use the system, please take a look at any park map (which has detailed instructions on how to get a FP) OR ask a castmember who is close to a FP machine - they'll help you out. Don't forget both your park pass & FastPass before you leave the kiosk! Remember that this is not a "front of the line" pass, nor can you go around and grab FastPasses for all attractions at once - as ThanxForNoticin mentioned, it is a time-sensitive pass. We saw many guests in the parks the past few trips who didn't quite "get" the concept and tried to grab all of their FPs at once, and were quite upset when they were told that they couldn't.

    Have a great time!
