    Default microwave rental

We will be in WDW with a baby that will need food heated while in the resort room. Does anyone know if you can rent a microwave at the moderate resorts? Thanks for your help.

I know the deluxes have a limited number available through housekeeping. Not sure about the mod's. You'd have to ask upon arrival, they aren't something you can pre-order like a fridge. Not as convenient, but there are microwaves available in the food court for public use.

We have used a portable soup/tea heater that plugs into the wall...you could put your 'food' into an acceptable container and plug in and the water will come to a boil...sort of like in the olden days we used to heat up baby bottles and food on the stove...do they still sell those trays that you could plug in and warm the food in individual compartments...I'm really showing my age here now.

With that said, once year we were going to go out an purchase a very cheap microwave or have one delivered to our resort and just leave it there...never did it as we figured out a way to heat up my dad's food in the food courts.

    1) Wilderness Lodge has not had microwaves for years.
    2) Values and Mods do not have microwaves.
    3) As mentioned, the food courts or fast food locations have microwaves.

NOTE: Microwaves are being discontinued. They can be dangerous when people damage them from handling. And, there are no reasons for them to be in regular hotel rooms, as long as they are available at the food courts.

Are you using baby food from a jar?

I would always heat the baby food, right in the jar, in a sink of hot water when I traveled with babies. I even heated bottled water to mix in baby cereal this way. Did the trick just fine.

The food court microwaves or buying a cheap microwave are both good alternatives but may not be necessary for you.

In the parks, the baby stations were the best place for getting food ready. They also provided food, diapers and anything else you may have forgot to bring or have run out of. Alternatively, I was always able to get baby food heated in the restaurants when we had our meals.
I'm not bad. I'm just drawn that way.

Advent sells a portable baby bottle and food warmer that heats baby food by adding a bit of water to the unit and plugging it in. If you do a search I'm sure it will pop up.

Other than that, if you are set on having a microwave, I would think it may be easier for you to purchase a small microwave and have it shipped to the resort instead of running the risk of arriving and not having one. You can find a cheap one for about $50.

We have four children and travel frequently with them (our last trip to the World was in November for 18 days with DD12, DD3, DD5, and DS8 months) another invaluable trick I have learned along the way is to bring the Medela steam sterilizer bags with me to sterilize the bottles and pacifiers (small baby toys too). Just add water and pop them into the microwave and minutes later everything is completely sterilized.

Good luck! Have a great trip! I have a zillion tricks and tips so feel free to ask!

The YC has microwaves on a first come first serve basis, and we have requested one. I'm not sure how many the resort has though. That being said, perhaps the resort you are staying at has them now too?? I would call and ask.

I would call your specific resort directly. Some resorts offer amenities like microwaves that others do not.
