Richard Petty Driving Experience

I am thinking of getting the Rookie Experience as a Christmas gift for my husband for our trip in December. He's been talking about doing it one day and I thought it would be a great gift. I am on the verge of doing it, but I need some convincing that I should go for it!

Is there an instructor in the car for the Rookie experience as well? It's safe...right?

I haven't heard of anyone getting injured, so it must be as safe as driving down the interstate.

I say definitely go for it! Your husband will love it! I purchased this for my husband for his father's day gift for our August trip. He loved it. He was originally supposed to do at the Walt Disney World as a wedding gift back in 2001, he got rained out and the track did not dry in time.
The drivers are very professional and very dedicated to safety. Your husband will be in his own car, but he will have a pace car with a professional driver in front of him. And your husband will have to follow his pace car and do exactly what his pace car does. The professional driver will go faster or slower depending on how your husband is driving and how comfortable he is.
It was an amazing experience and I didn't even drive, I'm actually getting goose bumps just thinking about it. I say go for it!
My one suggestion would be to try to do it earlier during your vacation, in case he does get rained out you will be able to reschedule during your vacation. If you have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to ask.

My boss ws given the RPDE for Christmas a few years ago...he LOVED it! He talks about it all the time and wants to do it again someday.

My son-in-law and husband did it a few years back and enjoyed it. That said, there is still some element of risk involved and waivers will need to be signed before your husband is allowed to drive. The speed is limited to a degree as there is a "pace" car that drives ahead and those who are participating are not allowed to pull alongside or pass this car.
