Default Mickey's Backyard BBQ or Hoop-Dee-Doo??

I am trying to find something new for my family on our next trip to WDW in October. I am debating about either Mickey's Backyard BBQ or the Hoop-Dee-Doo review. I have 2 DDs, ages 7 & 5, not sure which would be more fun for them! I would love to hear everyone's experiences at both of these places!! Any and all advice is welcome!!

    Thanks!!

I haven't done the BBQ, but I can tell you that the Hoop Dee Doo is one of my favorite things to do at Disney. I loved it as a kid, and now as an adult, it's even better. The show is totally interactive. They sing and dance all through the hall and get the crowd involved. At the end, they pick several lucky audience members to come up on stage and be part of the show. The food is good, and overall it is just a great time.
In need of a Disney World fix really bad.

Hoop Dee Do is a great time & should be experienced at least once IMO. The show is full of singing, dancing, & corny slapstick jokes that will keep you laughing & entertained throughout. Food is really good for your basic comfort fare. Every year we say we're going to skip it to try something new but always end up going anyway & never regret it.

As for Mickey's Backyard BBQ. we've never tried it mainly because we've heard mixed opinions that lean towards the negative. The menu didn't really interest us much & (no offense) I'm not into country music & line dancing. So there's just not enough there to warrant a visit. Also keep in mind that it can possibly be canceled due to bad weather which I don't think happens often but worth considering.

Haven't tried Hoop De Doo yet, looking forward to trying it sometime. Tried the BBQ last trip (2009) and we had a blast! The food was good, standard BBQ stuff, nothing spectacular, but good. The entertainment was great, and I'm not even really into country music. But they sang some other kinds of songs too. Lots of fun and the kids had so much fun dancing with the characters. We're doing it again this year, then the following trip we're going to try Hoop De Doo.

HDDR in my opinion the best of the two. They get the kids involved and it is a fun show.

Can't comment on the BBQ, but I'll join the chorus for the Hoop-Dee-Doo. Just booked my reservation today actually for our upcoming August trip! Gets a little pricey, but if you look at it as spending $$ for a show with a free dinner rather than for dinner with a free show, it's easier to rationalize. Definitely worth the ticket price.

And if I get to see the same laughs and smiles out of my son that I did the last time we were there (he was 7 at the time), it'll be worth the cost of all of our tickets.
