Before Walt had purchased the Florida property, it belonged to a number of unknown property owners. Disney had to track these owners down through some digging.

One piece of property was the southern edge of Bay Lake, where Ft. Wilderness now is located. Apparently, whoever was taking care of that property forgot their old-style hand-pushed lawnmower. A Florida pine tree actually grew through and around the mower. A few years back, the entire tree was still standing, but sadly, it was cut down to about a 5-foot height What's left of it stands near the walkway from Pioneer Hall (Hoop-de-Doo, Crockett's Tavern, Trail's End) to the marina; between the playground (if it's still there) and the marina. I have a picture of the sign there somewheres.
