Default Free In-Room Wireless at WDW Starts Today

WDW officially announced that free in-room wireless will begin today in the following resorts:

    Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge
    Disney’s Beach Club Resort
    Disney’s BoardWalk Resort
    Disney’s Contemporary Resort
    Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort
Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa
    Disney’s Old Key West Resort
    Disney’s Polynesian Resort
Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa
    Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Resort
    Disney’s Yacht Club Resort

No official word on whether it will appear at other resorts, but my understanding is that it will reach the moderate resorts eventually, as well. Possibly by the end of the year.

Let's hope sooner, I'm staying at PO:FQ in early December. Would love to be able to check on things without tethering my DroidX

I wonder how much our DVC dues will go down. We were paying for Internet as part of the dues anyway, so now that it's free for everyone, I've got to assume that the dues will decrease, right?

    Unhappy Darn . .

I guess that means DH will be able to continue working on vacation.

This was one of the few places to get him away from it . . .

If you get a note saying dues are going down, be sure you watch the sky very carefully. Jesus will be appearing soon.

Disney is saying that if the new design configuration is successful, they will review providing complimentary Wi-Fi access at other resorts within WDW.

    Well Garsh!

The company that wants us to book, pay, confirm, make dining ADRs, check-in, check-out and do everything else imaginable online is going to give us 'free' wi-fi while we're at WDW.

Is it just me? Or does every DVC Member feel like we've just lost another "perk," now made available to everyone.

Personally, refrigerators and wifi in rooms should be a 'perk' for everyone, like at many other hotels. I think DVC members should be rewarded monetarily, such as lower dues.

Of course they are going to make it as easy as possible to modify your reservations "after" the 24 hour mark...then invoking the charge

For instance, without wi-fi, I wouldn't be able to (nor want to) log into waltdisneyworld.com and be tempted to change dining reservations ahah now it will be tempting me

Not for a while. They'll let it go at the deluxe for a while. If that works it'll go to moderates. Eventually it'll probably make it to values, though I'd say there's a chance they'll keep it as a "premium" charge at values like the refrigerators.
