NON Disney Vacation You Would Do Again
Just read some posts about not going to certain vacation spots, Pigeon Forge, Myrtle Beach,Wisconsin Dells, etc. But I want to hear about the places outside of Disney that you'd recommend to the rest of us.
My first place is The Grand Canyon. Went without the kids 3 years ago, 20 yr anniversary gift. and took the kids back the very next year.
Stayed in Sedona, AZ and spent 5 days in the area rock climbing, hiking, and visiting the different National Parks in the area. Would definitely go back yet again

I adore visiting the Finger Lakes region in New York State. I have also enjoyed Bar Harbor, Maine.
Took a trip to San Diego last summer and fell in love. Can't wait to go back there, either!

Driving the Florida Keys to or from Key West is awesome and something everyone should do once in their life, we have done it twice. One was we flew into Key West, stayed for a few days then drove to the Everglades which was awesome, then drove over to Naples and stayed a couple days and visited Sanibel Island. We would love to do that trip again.
Would also like to visit the Smoky Mountains again. We drove through them last year on our road trip to WDW and it was really fun but did hate driving through the Dollywood area, traffic was horrible.
Off Site-- All Star Movies-- Pop Century-- Coronado Springs-- Port Orleans French Quarter
Walt Disney-"Disneyland is a work of love. We didn't go into Disneyland just with the idea of making money."

Alaska Cruise
Caribbean Cruise
San Francisco, CA
San Diego, CA
These are three places I've visited that I would always be happy to vacation at again. I went on an Alaska Cruise 20 years ago (yikes!) and I really want to do another one with my husband and kids.

Louisiana! A couple years ago, my dd2 and I drove to St. Francisville and stayed at Myrtles Plantation (haunted B&B). The next morning after breakfast we toured some other plantation homes in the area, all beautiful!
Then we drove about 50 miles to New Orleans and stayed at the Monteleone in the French Quarter. We were given a tour of the city by a friend we had met on Intercot and at the anniversary party a few years back. We toured parts of the swamp on a boat and saw many alligators in their natural habitat. Before we left, we did a ghost tour of the FQ. Awesome adventure!!
One may ask if we had any encounters on our ghostly hunt, we didn't think so... until we came home and loaded our pics into the computer!!!

As much as I love all things Disney, I love to travel and there is a whole "world" out there besides Disney. So many places I've yet been to, and so many I'd love to return to.
-
We tend to travel a lot and a "problem" we keep running into is that we keep wanting to return to so many places we fall in love with!
Places that stand out in my mind as places we either did return to, or would like to return to, to are Colorado, Florida Keys, Grapevine, Texas (Dallas area), Lake Lanier Island, Georgia, Destin, Florida, Asheville, North Carolina, Big Cedar Lodge in the Branson area, Arkansas, and of course being from Louisiana, New Orleans.

Any of the Caribbean Islands (Cruise only)
I can honestly say we have enjoyed each vacation we have gone on. As much as we love the Orlando area there are too many places that we want to see to go there every year.
The only vacation that we took that we were a little bored was Cape Cod. We probably won't go back there again.
We also will only do a Caribbean Island on a cruise. We have done a couple of Islands for a week long and there wasn't enough to keep us busy. On our vacations we like being on the go and sitting on a beach for 7 days in a row is not for us. A day or two on each island is long enough for us.
