Getting depressed, and i'm not even there yet.
My wife and I arrive on Sunday. We'll be leaving Thursday. This week, leading up to the trip, I keep finding myself thinking, "At this time next week i'll be eating at [fill in restaurant here]." or "this time next Monday, i'll be riding [insert awesome ride here]."
But now, I keep thinking, "at this time next week, i'll be getting ready to come home....enjoying my last precious few hours at WDW...."
It's making me depressed. And i'm not even there yet!

The end comes all too soon without us putting it before the beginning! I know the feeling. But try to focus on the fun you're about to have and the memories you will make. One day at a time.

I'm with Sherri
I'm not happy unless I'm planning the next trip. I've done the "at this time next week, we will be seeing Illuminations" etc. etc. the same as you
But instead of "we'll be packing up to leave" how about starting your trip report. I start mine in the airport. We spend a whirlwind of time taking pictures so I go through the camera the first few days home and document the trip. Look forward to creating a scrap book.
Then I start planning the next one.........

Luckily this year, we're going twice! Our BIG trip is at the end of August (but we're coming home on the day that free dining is rumored to start). So...we're already planning that one, which helps. And I think on that trip, we'll try a water park for the first time. The kids are really excited about that one.

I agree - I am always sad to leave, but usually have started planning the next trip before we're even off the disney property!

The only thing worse than leaving DW is...
Not having ANY plans to go. This is my current situation.
I feel your pain. Happens everytime I go.

I have to wait until October - torture!
23 times since 1993 and still counting

My DH does this...I will be like "Only 5 more days till we are at WDW" and he says "And only 12 more days and you will be home"...that is so depressing.

From a recent article entitled "22 Things Happy People do Differently"
9. Get absorbed into the present.
Happy people don’t dwell on the past or worry about the future. They savor the present. They let themselves get immersed in whatever they’re doing at the moment. Stop and smell the roses.
I get being a little bummed that it's going to end at some point, but if it's reaching the point of causing legitimately depressive/sad feelings then I don't think that's an especially healthy way to approach life. Hope you guys have a great trip and are able to focus on enjoying it in the present.

I totally get you! Looking forward to your trip can be just as exciting as being there! When the wait for the trip is over, a part of the trip excitement is over. When I get sad that I am leaving Disney, I remind myself that I am fortunate that it isn't a once in a lifetime thing and now I get to experience the excitement of waiting all over again!

just got back last night. Just try to live for the moment. The more time you spend focusing on going home, leaving etc, is time you are robbing yourself of enjoyment.
Trips: Too Many to Count! Last Trips: April 2013 CSR; July 2013 Aloha Aulani, The Sequel, Hawaii. Multiple trips to WDW, DL, DCL!
Coming up: September 2013 "Scary September" at Disneyland/DCA/Universal Hollywood.

I understand what you mean. We went for our longest trip yet, 14 days, in 2012, and the whole time I was there, I was uneasy knowing that as each day passed, we were closer to leaving. Worse yet, during the planning, I was filling in things to do near the end of the vacation, in the back of my mind I felt a little down by their proximity to the END of the trip. Worse yet, the things I planned for the early part of the trip, I kept thinking about how those things would be over too quick, like our traditional first breakfast at Crystal Palace.
Sigh. We really do have issues.
Viva Darth Macho!
