EPCOT fireworks for New Year's Eve?

Going down again for new years eve! Will do MK on the 30th. We did DHS last year with rock concert by Mulch Sweat and Shears and loved it!!!. Trying to decide if we should do EPCOT or an encore performance at DHS. What is the show at EPCOT? Is it holiday illuminations that we can see earlier in the week or is it a special New Year's Eve show? Also is there an early show or just one at midnight? Ty

From what I've been able to find, it appears that Illuminations will happen twice that evening. My understanding is that it is basically Illuminations with add-ons for the holiday. Keep in mind that it may not be possible to park-hop that evening as parks may close to additional admissions. Typically, advice for that day is to pick your park, arrive early, and plan to stay for the duration.

If it's the same this year as in previous, they have an earlier show and a show at midnight.

Honestly, based on my past experiences, I wouldn't even step foot in the parks new years eve day as they are usually at or close to capacity. One year, we tried to get in early morning and stay all the way thru and at one point my wife felt unsafe due to the way we were packed in and asked to leave - so we did. So, we missed the show then - but coming back about 3 years later, we had new years dinner off property, then we actually entered the park from the back about 60 minutes before the second show and while crowded - it was bearable. We then watched illuminations and left the park which was pretty awesome.

If we were ever to do it again, that's the route I'd go.

Thanks for the replies. Sounds like EPCOT doesn't have a special New Years firework display other than the holiday illuminations? Figure that we can see that show earlier in the week. Really enjoyed MSaS concert at DHS last year and being it is a special show would hate to miss it if EPCOT doesn't have a special New Year's Eve show. Hope I don't spoil things but we have had good luck seeing MK show the day before with better crowds.

In case you were not aware, Mulch Sweat and Shears no longer plays at DHS. I believe they left in October.

I haven't been in a few years for New Year's Eve. But at least the time I was there, Epcot did in fact have a special ending to Illuminations specifically for New Year's Eve (and different than the holiday tag) and it was amazing! One of the best fireworks shows I've ever seen.

Noooo! say it isn't so! Loved that group. Well I guess I was lucky enough to see their concert last new years. Thanks disneyfan1979, I was hoping to here there was something special. EPCOT it is for new years.
