Rumors of New Attractions at Epcot
I have recently seen several articles about rumored attractions coming to Epcot that include the following: Guardians of the Galaxy (replacing Universe of Energy), Tron Light Cycle Power Run (similar to the one at Shanghai Disneyland) possibly located in the old Wonders of Life pavilion, and a Ratatouille attraction (in the Paris pavilion)
Also, I have seen that Mission: Space is rumored to be getting a major rehab which will change some of the story-line.
Does anyone know if any of these are more than just a rumor at this point?

I think the Guardians had the most credibility - but I'd be all for the other two attractions coming to the long neglected Epcot - even if they are copies.

I agree the Ratatouille was really cute, and so was the indoor crush roller coaster both in Pairs Disney.

They are rumors in that none of the projects have been green lit but all are legitimate possibilities as Disney has been doing some preliminary work on them, such as sight-line testing at for the Guardians attraction, which would be located where Universe of Energy currently is. But right now none of those are officially going to happen and it remains to be see whether any, or all, of them will happen. There's also preliminary explorations on turning Imagination into an Inside Out attraction.

I suppose it makes sense if you forget that Epcot was supposed to be something more than generic Theme Park #2 (with festivals!).

Would love it if those rumors turned into reality. Epcot is in major need of some excitement injected into it. And honestly, Epcot has evolved, and needs to evolve again, from its original concept. And that's ok!

Would love the ratatouille ride. It just seems like all the super cool rides go into other parks, except WDW. Tron, Cars, etc. We got 7 Dwarfs, sure. But by and large, they go in elsewhere first.
I would like to see something Planes oriented.

Is this Ratattouille ride rumored to replace or to supplement the movie in France?

I completely agree. Guardians would be the final nail in the coffin, IMHO. Might as well slap a couple of huge steel coasters in there are partner with Six Flags....

The heck with thrill rides.
Add new countries in the World Showcase section. Put in more entertaining but educational stuff. Focus on some STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) attractions. Make FutureWorld into ....well....FutureWorld again.
You want roller coasters...... go to one of the other parks.

I'd embrace some love given to Epcot. It's always been my favorite park, but I do agree that it needs some excitement injected into it (more rides especially). Guardians doesn't fit into the park at all, but I'd love something Tron-related (Future World) and Ratatouille in France. I also think something Inside Out related (similar to Body Wars) would be really cool, and could easily be made educational.

That would have been a perfect fit if Wonders of Life was still around and not a "Festival Center."

That may be wishful thinking.
I'm half wondering if it won't become the new Festival Center (broken into two halves) and they demolish the old Wonders of Life building. It seems they didn't like that DHS had the fewest things to do and are trying to bring Epcot down to a similar level.

I'm all for some updates in Epcot. Not loving the Guardians of the Galaxy theme though...

TOTALLY agree. Love your point of view.

The allure of EPCOT was always the ability for it to offer something inherently creative and different than anywhere else. While there are pavilions that need to be utilized better, i.e. UOE,Imagination, and WOL, I don't think the answer is to stamp existing Disney properties on every single one. Quick solutions that would be perceived as an upgrade to existing entities really doesn't serve the long-term future of the park. Conceptually take the pavilion at hand and try to imagineer an original thought based around the concept not play fill in the square block with the squarest shaped movie you have in the vault.

I would love to see updates to Epcot too but would rather not hae all the thrill rides and kiddie rides there. I like that Epcot is a break from all those types of rides. It makes for a nice relaxing day.

Putting thrill rides in the other parks is fine, but leave Epcot alone. Epcot was historically an "edutainment" park, but seemed to have lost its way.
I do agree with most people here that Future World needs some major work - some attractions/pavilions like Spaceship Earth and The Land have evolved beautifully over the last 34 years, but others like Innoventions (what's left of it) and Imagination have not.
Energy, for example - it can easily be updated and refreshed while still maintaining its core meaning - energy is such a hot topic these days so it can still be a sustainable attraction. Imagination is just silly - that whole pavilion needs to be refreshed.
Future World just seemed like a more cohesive and cutting-edge place back in the 80s and 90s. Yes, it needs to evolve with the times, but don't forget where you came from.
