Must and never do's
Is there a restaurant you must do every time you visit WDW? Also is there one you will never do again?
My must do is 'Ohana. I just love the food and have never had a bad meal there. I could make a meal on the salad alone!
My never do is Boma for dinner. I know I am in the minority here, but I just don't care for the food/spices. I would like to try the breakfast though!

Our restaurant that we do every time we go to WDW is Brown Derby. We love the food and atmosphere there.
Never do again is Yak & Yeti. Last time we ate there the restaurant was literally dirty. Tables were sticky even though we were taken to a table that was "ready" for another sitting? I think not. The service was bad. Had to ask for drinks. Nobody was paying attention to our table. I know other people love it, but we are done going there, which is great news for those who love it....one less family making reservations!

Our must do is CA Grill, for our final night. We usually don't get there for fireworks because we don't plan that far in advance, but we still love the food and view.
Our "never ever again" is the Grand Floridian Cafe for dinner. We had the WORST service ever there. (Waitress threw plates on our table, argued with me about my son's DDP credit, food was overcooked and very salty.) We were there for a 5:00 ADR during the week after Labor Day, so crowds shouldn't have been a factor. However, I know other folks love it there (esp. for breakfast) so I am hoping that I caught them on a really bad night!

Interesting thread!
Our new "must do" is Teppan Edo (and our old favourite Rose & Crown) if I were allowed to choose two.
As much as it pains me to say it, our never do is Liberty Tree - just rotten (again).

Hey, Karen! I'm with you on Boma. We tried it twice for dinner and the flavors just don't excite us, but you must try Boma breakfast. So, so lovely! The restaurant is just beautiful in the morning, the food is delicious as are most of the buffet breakfasts at Disney. I'll also comment that it is nice to have a character free buffet, makes for a more peaceful dining experience. It's a little trickier to get to, but just a great overall experience.
By the way, thank you for being my vacation specialist!

We love 'Ohana, too, but there's no place we must do on every trip, except Ghirardelli's for a sundae on our last day befora heading home.
One place we will never do again is CRT. Over-priced and wayyyy over-rated. A waste of time and money in spite of the castle atmosphere.

A quick comment on this...many people talk about to going to California Grill and being there for fireworks. The one time I went was before dark, and the early evening view was spectacular.

Ohana is a must do for us and we like BOG for dinner as well, we also weren't big fans of Boma it was just okay. I would say a won't do again is Tony's or Marrakesh.

Good Question!
My must do is Via Napoli pepperoni pizza. It reminds me of the pizza made around here when I was young.
My never do is Chef Mickeys. Have never had a good meal there although I know it is a favorite. Boma is another, for the same reason as you.

We really don't have a must do. To be honest, dining is not why we visit WDW. However, without planning it or doing it intentionally, we do seem to end up eating at San Angel Inn in Epcot. It has always been good.
A never again and I mean never is Cinerella's Royal Table. It was the absolute worst meal and dining experience by far that we ever had in WDW and it was grossly overpriced. The only good thing about it was we were there during the fireworks and seeing them through the castle window was pretty neat.
-
We always do Chef Mickeys the morning we leave. Will never do Whispering Cannon Cafe again. But mostly because we felt it was too loud and food was average.

It's always interesting to see/hear all the various experiences people have with dining around Disney. 5 years ago, our "must-do" would've been 'OHana. While we still enjoy it now and then, changes there have made it less appealing for us. Ironically, the closest thing we have to a must-do is Boma for dinner! It's mentioned above on the negative side, but we're huge fans and I never get tired of the soups and meat dishes they offer - especially since they change during the week. Our never-do has been the same for about 20 years - Coral Reef. Multiple bad experiences there has had it at the bottom of our list for a long time now.

Must Do: Le Cellier..It's the most consistent steak-centered dining experience on property, very tasty, a bit different offerings than the standard steak house. It would be Ohana, but I miss the potatoes too much.
Never-Again: Hollywood and Vine. It was an unkept below average buffet with little value for the price with no signature items out of the ordinary. Close 2nd Tony's (Want to make it an offer they can't refuse)

The opposing views are interesting. Different strokes for different folks!
Certainly people don't go to Chef Mickey's for the food unless their only interest is volume. They go to see Mickey and the gang! It's an expensive but easy way to get pics with Mickey for sure!
As for Tony's it may be somewhat blah but we do go there occasionally if you just have a hankering for some pasta. It's not usually one that we pre-reserve but we've never had problems getting short term ressies.

There are too many we like to have a single must do, but we must do at least two signature restaurants per visit. Narcoossee's and California Grill are probably our most frequent repeats.
Never do: We have four, due to bad experiences. Kona Cafe, Yachtsman Steakhouse, Coral Reef, and Boatwright's. I believe in giving places second chances and realize that some visits are just bad, but these places were so beyond disappointing that they shifted to the never again column.

It's too soon to be a "must-do," since we've only eaten there once, but The BOATHOUSE is a "must-do" for our upcoming trip. We had our best meal there on our last vacation
(Chef Mickey's and Hoop Dee Do are really, really would-like to-dos.)
I'm sorry to say but Ohana's is a "never-do" for us. We ate there once and wife and DD did not like it at all and they have no desire to go back. (I personally enjoyed it.)

I have a long list of places that we love and happily we go down often enough that if we don't catch one of our favorites on a trip we'll do it on the next one.
Currently there is only one place that I will not give another try and that is Portabello's in Disney Springs. The whole experience there was terrible from the huge wait before being seated in a half empty restaurant with 180 day made ADRs, then the food being boring and some items just bad, to the waitress being MIA and rude. Never, ever again.

Must do.... Boma.
Never do....... can't think of one.
best,
...............john
EDIT: Just thought of one...... Teppan Edo. Not because of ever eating there. But simply because that is not Japanese food..... it is Americanized Japanese with a Chinese twist. As someone who spends a lot of time in Japan........ it does not really interest me.

Our never must do again is Hollywood and Vine minnie's seasonal dinner. My husband and I rated the food a 4 out of 10. While most character interactions with my 20 month old daughter were great, minnie mouse herself came to our table and just stood next to my daughter for a picture and wouldnt interact with her
We have a few must do's. Ohana, Nine Dragons (my hubby and I love it) and 1900 park fair for dinner. The characters from cinderella were amazing, they all interacted with my daughter multiple times and we loved the food. Hubby rated it 9 out of 10
