Unused tickets?
A friend has 2 unused 3 day tickets, they have never been used, expire the end of year. If I take them to WDW, will I be able to trade them for different tickets? And do they have to be upgraded, or could I get credit toward 1 day tickets for several people? Or should she try to get disney to refund money. They were planning on a trip, which will not happen, due to surgeries. Bought tickets direct from disney, booked room, room was canceled but she was told tickets were nonrefundable. Any help out there? Thanks

Tickets ARE non-refundable, but if they do not have names on them, you should be able to use and upgrade them. You would get the value of the tickets - when purchased - against the value of the upgraded tickets. You cannot, however, trade a 3 day for multiple 1 day tickets.
IF the tickets have names on them, they can only be used/upgraded by the person named.

Tickets did not have names on them, she only had a confirmation number. Also, she called a number, that I found for her for Disney ticketing this morning. They refunded her the entire amount. We are all very pleased.

Excellent! That is very unusual for them, but I expect that is because of the situation. Kudos to Disney for that.

Actually, I learned from some other websites, that they usually will refund, if the ticket has never been used and are not expired yet. However, you have to ask and be respectful. She was offered a refund or a gift card. Disney does not want to be known as the company that won't let you back out of anything. That's very bad PR. Things happen, sometimes plans change.

Yes, they are actually very good at working with you when situations arise. They have the policies of no refunds on tickets and the deadlines for refunds on reservations to prevent abuse. There are people that will continuously book and cancel if they don't have policies. I have had a family emergency arise shortly before a trip once and needed to cancel and had one trip where something came up with business and I needed to reschedule. They were very helpful and we worked it out both times. Life happens and sometimes people have to change plans and Disney understands that. I am sure they keep notes on your account and track cancellations to spot habitual cancelers though.
