Feeling Guilty!!
My boyfriend and I are leaving in 2 weeks for a 4 day trip. He has never experienced the F&W Festival. This is only the 2nd trip I've taken with out my son. He is 19, has Asperger's and Disney World has always been "our" place. He is ok with not going because we are going next August for 10 days. I, however, am really suffering with extreme guilt. We haven't been since 2014, because his dad and I divorced in 2015. Does anyone else experience guilt when not taking your children. I know he's 19 but with his diagnosis, age isn't a factor. Please tell me I'm not the only one!!!
Thanks!
Debbie

I am 66, both of my children went for the first time when they were 5 1/2 months old, they are now 42 and 37, and I still feel guilty if they don’t go with me. So no, you are not alone.

Bring back some nice gifts from WDW, and have a good time. You deserve it.

Yep, I went last year twice, once with DD and once with DH. I felt guilty on both trips since I left someone at home. But, it was great getting some one-on-time with both of them. Enjoy the trip, and look forward to the next one with your son.

Age has no factor. If WDW is a family thing for you than no matter the age - the guilt will still exist. Approximately 12 years ago, my mom went for 2 days before a cruise. She called for help finding her way around. And I told her she deserved being lost for leaving me at home. I was in my 30's at the time.
Trust me - mom guilt is a real thing. As long as he is ok, then go and have fun. But definitely bring home some great WDW items. If he has a favorite Disney snack, I would definitely bring him a few of those and set up a mom & son snack time. A great way to share the trip with him and maybe a great time to work on some of your own plans for the August trip.
From our experience, her trip without me is now a good laugh and she has stated more times than I want to mention that she would never go without me again. Thereby making our trips even more special!

You will feel guilty but you shouldn't. You need time for yourself too, and it will make you a better mom in the long run.
I'll meet you at the Rainbow Bridge.

My kids are 18 and 16. I have not gone to Disney without them since they were born. My husband and I talk about going on an Anniversary trip for food and wine festival one day, but we haven't been able to bring ourselves to go without them yet. My boys, especially my 16 year old love Disney as much as I do and it feels wrong to go without them. I know we will eventually go without them, just not ready to yet. Waiting for the last one to be done with high school (and football) then we will take our Anniversary trip!
