The Vacation Kingdom of the World
Since 1971, the Walt Disney World Resort has been the “Vacation Kingdom of the World”. Beginning with the Magic Kingdom, opening on October 1, 1971, Walt never actually saw ground break on his beloved Florida Project. It was his brother Roy O. Disney that brought Walt’s incredible ideas to life. But the legacy of Walt Disney is embedded in every square inch of the property.
With a total of 43 square miles (about twice the size of the island of Manhattan) just south of Orlando Florida, Walt Disney World has grown since 1971 to include four major theme parks, two water parks, a shopping and entertainment complex, a sports complex, over 100 restaurants and a variety of recreational activities.
There is so much to see and do at Walt Disney World, it’s no wonder why so many visitors return again and again! Whether it’s your first visit or your 100th, there will always be something new to discover.
