I read that too and thought it was odd. I just double checked on another reliable website and it says a lifeguard is on duty until 10 pm.

It is possible that it varies depending on the time of the year, but I doubt it. Anytime I have gone to any of the resorts it seems the pools are pretty busy well into the late hours of the night.

The pool itself does not close when the lifeguard leaves. It is just "swim at your own risk". What does change is that the slide is closed if there is no lifeguard on duty.

Actually, some of the pools do have hours that vary by season. Some resorts offer both a theme pool and quiet pool... while the quiet pool is typically open 24 hours, the theme pool does have operating hours and you cannot swim at all if the lifeguards are not present. Just depends on the resort.

The slides are definitely off limits when no lifeguards are present - but it depends upon the resort, if the main pool is closed.

For instance - Y&BC does close the whole main pool, but Boardwalk doesn't - they just close off entrance to the slide, and you can swim as long as you want.....

i know for a fact that at POFQ when its not between 10-4 you can't use the slide. infact, they even turn off the water that normally runs down the slide so that nobody can go down it. in addition, they put up a metal locked gate at the entrance to the slide and put a big rope barrier at the end of the slide where you would fall into the water... so basically, its true. you can't use the slide if its not in the hours of operation.

Excuse me? Are you lookin' at me? Did you rub my lamp? Did you wake me up? Did you bring me here? And all of a sudden you're walking out on me? I don't think so, not right now. You're getting your wishes, so sit down!

We stayed in POFQ in October and the lifeguard was on duty till 7 p.m. for sure (we didn't use pool later) and the slide was opened.

When we were at WDW in Sept, 2005 we stayed our first night at CSR so the kids could play on the slide before we went to bed that evening. It had closed around 6:00. Same thing at the CBR. So unless you are going to swim in the day, at least at the moderates, don't count on the slides.
