I think the Pens are going to get smoked in the next round.

I did mean that. I'm not fooling myself ... the Penguins are a better team than we are. They just weren't playing up to potential, but when it came down to it they did what they had to do.

Okay ... call me petty ... but it definitely makes the Flyers first round ouster more palatable now that the and Rangers have gone down with us!

Oh I'm totally with you! I'm kind of rooting for the Caps... I don't really like them, but I have a friend in DC who I've known for over a decade and she's always been a passionate Caps fan, so I guess I'm more rooting for her.

This match-up is sorta like when the Cowboys and Giants play. Deep down I sorta hope an asteroid comes down out of the sky, striking the stadium, and wiping both teams off the face of the Earth forever.
Kidding ... kidding ... I kid ...
I guess I'm rooting for Washington.

I feel better now knowing I am not the only one who envisions the asteroid scenario when teams I hate play each other.

I still haven't come to terms with how my season ended I will say this major changes need to made over the offseason especially with our defense,
Well off to
Does envisioning a mid air collision of the planes carrying both teams count as the asteroid scenario

Caps are in for a big surprise. Took them seven games to beat the offensively challenged Rangers.
They won't know what hit them.

It took the Pens six games to beat the reeling Flyers.
It's hardly like they had a powerhouse first round and, the truth is, the Rangers were playing much better hockey than the Flyers were heading in to the playoffs.
I think the are the ones in for an unhappy surprise.

Last time the Caps beat the Pens was before the team turnaround and the new coach. They were a different team when the Caps beat them.
You better hope your team isn't as sure of things as you are.
So, who deserves the Hart more, Ovie, Malkin, or anyone not named Crosby?
Funny, for all the ragging Ovie fans do against Crosby they should all move to Boston, where the fans are more concerned with hating the Yankees than they are with rooting for the Sox.

Bro, the Rangers backed into the playoffs. The woke up like the last game of the season. They didn't come storming in on a roll.
The Pens were complacent for a few games in the Phily series, that much was obvious. I think game six woke them up again, and naming Bylsma as permanent head coach undoubtedly gives them a bit of a lift.
I think the are the ones in for an unhappy surprise.
We shall see. I've been hearing all season long about the Pens imminent failure.
Hasn't happened yet.

It really doesn't matter who wins between the Caps and Pens. All they are playing for is to find out which one will get spanked by the Bruins in round 3!!!

I'm hoping that by some miracle, the Canes can pull it out and knock off Boston. Of course, I don't really believe that's going to happen! My picks:
Bruins in 5
Penguins in 7
Red Wings in 6
Canucks in 7

I'm a huge Pens fan, but I am afraid that the effort put forth against Philly is not going to cut it against Washington. However, I am hoping that the Pens get some things going against the Caps especially on the power play. Washington is a different type of team than the Flyers. Actually they are a lot like Pittsburgh.
Some of the hockey experts here in Pittsburgh made a good point. How do you stop Ovechkin? Make him play defense. Three of Pittsburgh lines 1) Crosby 2) Malkin 3) Staal all offer a good challenge to Ovechkin. Staal is an excellent defensive forward as well. Even in Washington when the Caps have the home ice line advantage I think even Talbot can hold his own with the 4th line. I also would expect Bylsma to mix up the lines as need be.
I am not really worried as much about the physical play as I was against Philly as Brashear (sp?) thugged his way out of most of the series. Also, not that Crosby, Malkin, and Ovechkin can't hold their own, but a cheap hit on Crosby or Malkin could mean a nice hip check or some "free candy" by Brooks Orpik on Ovechkin.
Should be a good series. I really think it is too close to call.

I was at the game this past Spring (The Crosby visor incident) where the Pens handled the Bruins quite well. If the Pens are able to make it to the Conference Finals I actually like their chances a little more against Boston than I do Carolina. (Even though Carolina would give the Pens home ice). People say Crosby is a baby but Savard is right up there with him then. I mean Savard tells Crosby to take off the visor if he wants to fight. Crosby does and Savard backs away skating back to the bench. He's scared of Crosby?
