Yeah Charlie and Claire made me cry too
Did anyone watch Jimmy Kimmel afterwards?
Matthew Fox seemed all choked up when he came out. That made me sad too....a big part of their lives just ended. It has to be bittersweet for them all.
But I loved every minute of it. I was wondering why Walt and Michael weren't in the church at the end and then when I saw Jimmy Kimmel it was funny how he made fun of the fact Walt would be so much bigger etc....I didn't even think of that in the final church scene.... But yeah that would have been funny if you were still growing after you had died.....that would have confused the heck out of everyone LOL
I also think that is why Walt didn't stay long on the island the same reason for the babies being a big deal on the island. Children are innocent and without sins. (according to some religions) Therefore they have no conflict with death nor do they have conflict with people or within themselves...... They are innocent......They didn't have all the conflict, struggles, etc that Jack and the rest of the adults had.
It was a well written show. And the cast was amazing. I will miss it!!!!

Meh, in the end I am just glad its over. I think that a couple of the seasons were really lacking -- and to be honest it bugged me how with all the build up it was like some EPIC television show that changed the face of entertainment had ended -- Lost was ok, but most of all it was just frustrating and seemed to get LOST in its own story lines.

I liked that they were all back together at the end, and the scene with Jack and Vincent made me tear up (my first thought was that Vincent was the true "constant" on the island). But truth be told I was disappointed in the ending. After developing such a detailed-oriented plot and with twists in the storyline, it seemed that they just abandoned it all for a simplified resolution to everything. And in the end the purgatory theory that has circulated for so many years ended up not being far off from what happened. Honestly, I don't know what I was expecting, but it wasn't that.
I still love the characters and will miss seeing them each week. With Lost and 24 both finishing up their last seasons, next January just won't be the same for me, TV-wise.

I like how Jimmy Kimmel asked Terry O'Quinn if he was more like good Locke or bad Locke and he said that he was just unemployed Locke...
I will miss it so much...I dont think there has ever been a show that has had a better cast of characters...

I still have mixed feelings about how it all ended.
One thing that made a huge impact or at least led up to how it ended was the actors talking during the 2-hour recap. They all focused on the relationships and character building, no one really talked about the "mysteries" or "questions". The more they talked about character development, it occurred to me that this was the main focus of the entire show. All the mysteries/questions were just a back-drop. So the beautiful thing for me about The End was showing those relationships and the "remembering" of connections.
The "mixed feeling" for me comes from all those unanswered questions - like about the children, what happened to them, what happened to the lives of Kate, Sawyer, etc. once the plane left the island. When people talked about the show the next morning it was usually about those mysteries of the island - not too much about the relationship aspect. Although perhaps that's the point -- it isn't until it's all over that you look back and see it was the people around you that matter - the problems in life (smoke monsters, polar bears, etc) - are just details that mean nothing in the end.

I thought last night was great closure, but they sure didn't answer many questions!! LOL. It was good to see characters reunited and so happy and Jack achieving the full redemption he has always sought. All in all, I am happy with the ending, but would still like a few explanations, if you please.

I read on the internet that the island happenings were "real" and that everyone died but not at the same time. The flash sideways was like a purgatory where they all reconnected and met at the church. From there they went to another "plane" ( heaven for those of us who believe) I always thought purgatory played into it somehow. I guess it is all up for your own interpretation. All in all a very good series, kind of quirky but it makes you think.

Alrite glad to see someone else was on the same track as me.
However, I'm rather annoyed no questions were really answered. If everything that happened on the island was "real" then I want answers as to what and why.

I agree. A couple of problems I have with the theory that the sideways universe was purgatory and the island was "real" is that quiet ending scene with the airplane wreckage and no evidence of the survivors led me to believe that no one actually survived the flight. Secondly, even after everyone had supposedly died and they were all waiting in the church, Jack's father said that he and everyone else were "real" at that moment. So why couldn't the island experience have been a part of all of their post-life journeys to purification and redemption (which is what purgatory is reputably supposed to be).
In the end they explained what the alternative universe was, but they didn't really explain what role the island played. Don't get me wrong, I never wanted to buy into the purgatory theories, but if if the writers were going to go that direction, I don't see how the island and all its secrets could have been a part of "real" life. It was all just too bizarre and magical.

Not "magical", but mystical. To me anyway.
I loved the ending. Of course it can't all be explained in a rational way. The island was obviously a special place, and it makes sense to me that there are things that happened there that are beyond explanation.
Obviously there was a huge spiritual meaning to the whole series, which also lends itself to the inexplicable.
I have no problem with the ending, I thought it was perfect. I will miss the characters and will probably have to buy the DVD set so I can see them again.

Well. I didn't like it. I was one of the ones defending... I thought we'd get more resolution. I feel like we really got none. The whole final scene was a resolution to the ALT universe that was introduced just in this season.
Beth, that quiet crash scene at the end really threw me for a minute too. However, thinking about it, it just doesn't make sense for them to have been dead the whole time. If they were never alive, how could they have formed those bonds/relationships?
Still, I think the whole "You created this place so that you could meet up again and move on together because you loved each other so much" is a bunch of hooey. How come it took some people to have near death experiences to "wake up" but for others, all it took was a touch? I dunno, I just find it kind of weak. I do like the characters, but it was the mystery aspect of the show that really drew me in. I like mystery so much because I feel gratified when I get the resolution. Therefore, I feel slightly aggravated that so many of the mysteries just lay unanswered with the close of the series.

I believe the reason it took some longer to "wake up" than others had to do with how many issues they had to resolve within themselves before they were ready to move on. It just took Jack longer to deal with his issues. Also, I think it had something to do with how much they loved - but that's just my theory.
I can understand you being disappointed with the mystery aspects of the show. I saw it more as being about the characters. The producers said straight out that they wanted it to mean different things to different people, so that worked!

Well I agree that they were all leaving together for the next "plane" and that time did not mean anything there so Kate, Sawyer, Claire etc may have lived a long and wonderful life and then met up with the important people from their life at the church. I think what happened on the Island was real, that Hurley and Ben stayed on there doing whatever was needed(I have no idea what that would be).
I think the wreckage was to symbolize sort of the full circle that they had gone through. They started with the crash and Jack opening his eye, we end with the closed eye and the wreckage. The wreckage also symbolizing the beginning of this whole journey that we took for six years.
Michael & Walt were not in the church because Michael was stuck on the Island (Hurley saw him a few episodes ago, Michael is now part of the whispers) and Walt as cute or special as he may have been he wasn't all that important to the group as a whole. So he lived happily ever after with Grandma in NY. I think that is the same reason Lapidus, Richard, Daniel etc were not in the church. They were part of the story but not an in depth part of the lives of these characters.
I do have to say that by Monday afternoon I was much happier with the ending than I was Sunday night. I had to sleep on it for a bit I guess. Overall I am happy with the ending.

Well, the first couple of hours were good drama, albeit in the alt whatever-you want to call it. Teared up a couple of times.
But I feel I was cheated. Sure there are relationships, but what about the mysteries? It's like the writers had the attitude, let's just throw anything we can think of...anything we've ever read...anything we've ever watched, and then because we are not going to bother with it at the conclusion, we can do anything.
The last 15 minutes....hated it. How lame. What a cop out. What about Dead is Dead? I guess that isn't the case. They wanted to bring together everyone one last time.
If they threw out all of the flash sideways (which were really just flash forwards), another lie by the writers, and actually covered some of the history of the island...what is the MIBs NAME for goodness sake. How about Crazy Mother? Why do pregnancies abort? They didn't originally. What's with all of the Egyptian symbolism? Too many things were just thrown out there and ignored. I could go on and on. I never expected everything to be answered, but really. Nothing at all? Everything Jacob said in the last Tuesday show was obvious to anyone watching the show.
Oh, and what's the deal with Jack. Who knows that they are going to die and then just wanders back to the place where he originally landed on the island in the bamboo. Puhleeese. Give me a break.
We watched the interview by NY Times on Thursday with Damon and Carlton and they kept saying how they didn't want to dumb down the series for the 6 years it was on the air, but they sure dumbed down the ending.
Can you hear the frustration? Almost want to swear off TV.

I for one will NOT be buying the season 6 Blue Ray! I have all the other seasons, but I do not want my money to be a 'vote' for the travisty of a conclusion that I watched on Sunday. All the 'clues' that we collected throughout the seasons were just dropped! What about the numbers? Why did Widmore want to get back to the island so bad? (before Jacob visited him, that is.) What was with Eloise, she seemed to have all the answers, what are they?? What was with the 'trial' that Juliett went thru & was 'marked', who was in charge of that & why... I could go on & on, but it is just making me mad.

I feel like a highschool girl whose boyfriend just broke up with her
I'm SAD! I really, really loved LOST. The ending was good enough for me and I say that because I knew it couldn't and wouldn't be what I wanted it to be.
BUT NOW, I keep thinking of all these little things that I think should have happened this last season:
**Do not introduce new characters and the Temple- they had nothing to do with nothing
**What about Mr. EKO- he should have been on again somewhere
**An entire episode right before the final show with none of the REAL characters we love- ( jacob and his twin as children)HATED THAT they should have shown that weeks before
** I thought Michael should have been included at the church too- WHY wasn't he there?
**And something MORE concerning Eloyise and Widmore- the writers played up Widmore so mysteriously - and the final season-PLOP!!
This erked me the most!
I already miss you-LOST and I'm going to watch the entire series all over someday

The actor that played Mr. Eko wanted nothing to do with the show, which is why he 'died' in the first place.
