sometimes the CMs aren't even there at the baby elephant cage. Its like the guy who grabs Joe Perry's guitar at RnRC, there hasn't been a CM doing that in years

Although I haven't had an issue w/ my safari drivers yet (I've actually found them to be the best out of all the "driven" rides recently...) I'm thinking that what you've said about finding CM's that can actually act and be a part of a ride at the same time must be true. I haven't had a decent "driver" on TGMR in so long I can't even tell you -- it's a good thing we've mostly memorized it.

As much as I'd hate to see the safari convert to a "canned spiel", I'd honestly prefer it to the droning & horrible interaction that goes on w/ some of the CM's on other rides...

I've also read in recent years of some "issues" with some CM positions wanting to be classified as entertainment positions instead of just regular CMs. You see, entertainment has a higher pay grade, so being classified as entertainment would help their paychecks. Since a lot of WDW is union, I tend to believe this could be a point of discussion.

Not sure where this lies in all of that. Kilimanjaro Safaris, The Great Movie Ride, The Backlot Tour, Living with the Land and I'm sure there are a few others could cross into that area of fuzziness...

    Who knows though...

While I agree the story line is stale I think the poaching message is an important one, and one you'd hear about if you traveled to Africa. It's still a huge, daily problem and I've always liked that AK has aspects that really point that out.

I'd like to see changes but I'd also like to see the conservation message carried through in a way that actually grabs people's attention.

The poacher story line has lost its impact. Either restoring it or updating the attraction would be nice. I think Disney could probably let the animals tell their own story and that would be fine.

What we have to think about is first impressions. Once you have seen the movie or heard the speil, it doesn't ever have the same affect on the viewer again. Not everyone has been on the ride before and the message is educational without being preachy. Especally for youngsters. It is sad that Disney has lapses in quality control but they have set the bar high and it goes with the territory that they be called on them. Those of us who have the means to go often, know when there is something amiss. Those who don't know what to expect will still enjoy the experience. When I rode EE the first time, the fog effects were not working but the Yetti had movement so it was Yikes! Not "Gee, this would be cooler if there was fog." If the next time I go, the fog is working, it will be like "wow, that's different!"
I hope that made sinse but the point is: Disney is a Goliath with alot of balls in the air at all times. For the most part, they do it very well and I seriously doubt anyone could do it better.

You have to keep the poachers in the storyline. How else do you explain where all the animals are after 10:30 on a summer morning

Is that a new pc thing? Like the no gun on Jungle Cruise?
