Silly Be-Our-Guest Restaurant Question
We have ADRs for 2:00 p.m. on one of our days in September. If it is a counter-service restaurant for lunch, how does that work? Do we pre-order before arriving? Do they just not let people in the restaurant until their set time, then order at counter? I'm probably making a bigger deal of this than it is.

I was able to experience this just after Easter. We checked in at the podium at our ADR time, actually just before that time. From there we went into another line to get into the castle.
From there, you go in and wait in another line to get to an ordering station. You van get a magic rose or use a magic band. There are quite a few of those stations. After I ordered and paid we went to find a table. That was the hardest part. After we sat down a server brought the food out in a covered cart. They track you by the rose or magic band. It all went smoothly.
I have had the dinner and lunch there and really preferred the lunch.

Yes, they basically have a line outside and you need to have an ADR to get in it. No need to preorder, once you enter you are escorted to a kiosk and you order and pay there and get your rose to take to the table. You get your own silverware and drinks and sit down. Your food will be brought to your table.

I did not pre order. I wanted to see the pictures of the food.

I'm curious. This sounds like a lot of lines to get in. I have an ADR for 2:15. We planned on preordering. My fastpass for Mine Train is from 2:35-3:35pm. I tried to change both and nothing available for either. Shocker Is there any way we will be able to eat and get out of here in an hour? We are 4 people.

You should be fine. There are many lines, but with ADR's, they move quite quickly.
There are multiple ordering stations (if you don't pre-order), and once you're sitting, the food comes fairly fast.
We've been for lunch twice, and both times were just about an hour ... a little less actually.

Thanks for all the responses. Seems a little more involved than normal counter service.
Another question: Do we leave a tip for the food runners?

It's a little more involved. I liked it though since you don't have to look for a table while carrying a tray of food.

Another Be our Guest Question
I have another Be Our Guest Question...What really is the difference between daytime dinning and in the evening, except for one being counter service and one being table? I mean does the whole experience change, do they have "special" character appearances? Does the room change?
Thank you!

The menu is the biggest change along with the servers. No characters and no type of show or anything.

So the restaurant stays the same, the menu changes and there are servers....those are the only differences? In other words, if I can't get a reservation for dinner, I shouldn't be sad, just go during lunch or dinner...that is what you are saying?
-
Yep. The décor is the same for both meals. The castle is just lovely.
There is a different lunch and dinner menu, but both are good.
At lunch they deliver the food to your table, at dinner there are "regular" servers for the whole meal.
If you can't get a dinner ADR, go for lunch. It isn't the same, but still a great experience.

Pretty much. I also believe that some rooms are only open at lunch and not dinner, and at lunch you sit wherever you want. At dinner you are seated where they put you.
Oh, alcohol is available at dinner but NOT lunch. That is the other difference.
I did lunch. I was happy with that. If I never eat dinner there I won't be crushed.

hmm no one mentioned that dinner is slightly different.....
Music starts to play and The Beast himself walks into each room a few times during dinner (depending on how long you are there for). Then after dinner you are invited to go and meet the beast and a photopass photographer is there to take a picture.
I LOVE dinner here. I will be trying lunch there for the first time in June BUT I have been to dinner here 2xs now and it is my absolute favorite! Especially when the Christmas tree is up!
I have 2 boys and they love seeing The Beast in his castle.
