I don't mind them adding it, but don't take away something popular like the speedwsy to do so. They have plenty of land at WDW to add it somewhere (Epcot seems most likely, IMO).
And Disneyland? Unless they build a third gate, there is no way to fit that ride into Disneyland.

I don't know of any official word on it, I just know that keeping that name makes little to no sense.

With the plans, makes no sense what so ever.... Especially if Guardians winds up there... Even Discoveryland, which was going to be the new name if Project Gemini ever saw the light of day, makes no sense anymore....

Rumor at one time was Incredibles was going to get a massive E ticket in Tomorrowland, on the parking lot behind where Galaxy Theater was... The E Ticket would have beena Kuka robotic arm attraction... Then Universal got the exclusive contract for the robotic arm with Forbidden Journey.... Then rumor became Tron getting that spot with the light cycle coaster... And now suddenly that attraction has been placed on Speedway... The talk was, when Disney ordered the track and cars for the ride in Shanghai, they ordered two of everything, 1 for Shanghai 1 for WDW... Then the talk was, well, yea no so much for WDW...
Talking to some people, Tron isn't happening... They said no way... They said Speedway is staying but will see some plussing, like upgrading the cars to remove the diesel smell... I guess it is all STAY TUNED!!!!
In my opinion, the Speedway would be the perfect area for Wreck It Ralph... Make is Sugar Rush... And it would be the perfect buffer, theme changer.... It's a tad sci-fi being a video game and all, and a tad Fantasy, being a video game and all... I think it makes sense...

They should at least transition to electric already.

That's probably not very practical given how many miles those cars drive. They would always have to be recharging them. They are not large enough to install high capacity batteries.
The Disneyland Autopia was recently handed over to Honda as a sponsor and they put in new, more efficient engines and repainted the cars in genuine Honda colors. It's a really great overhaul. They also just added a storyline with Asimo and a robot Bird who are going camping. All the scenes are very futuristic looking.

What I have heard and it makes sense that Disney will be hard pressed to pull the trigger on something unless they know it will move guests. That is one of the biggest reason no new countries have been introduced in Epcot. So, you bring in Brazil. Will that drive people to visit World Showcase and spend money? Now, one of the countries talked about the the end of the 80s was Spain. And with the new movie Gigantic being release and being set in Spain, I would not be surprised if you see Spain come into World Showcase and some sort of attraction tied to Gigantic being installed at the same time.
The big problem with Future World is that is hard to keep up with the future and it is also VERY expensive. So, I would not be surprised if some of the theme of Future World changes so it can be more timeless and not needing to be updated so often. This is the same thing that happened with Tomorrowland. Finally they made it a timeless area and the need to change and update isn't as dire as it doesn't look outdated as quick.

Agreed ! It does make sense. However that ride always has a line and is already moving guests. What is needed is a real WOW where Stitch was. Maybe some kind of Big Hero 6?
In Epcot something other then up-charged festivals. Maybe a STEAM building with a cool robot ride in the front?

It already is not updated very often, but that isn't the problem with the name. The problem with the name is it becoming nothing more than words on a sign/map. A loss of focus.

Definitely, but that ship has sailed. By adding another "festival", they've pretty much reached their goal of year-round festivals.
In some ways, the decline of that park shows how tough it is to have a science/education focused operation that also is required to be a profitable guest-attracting operation. It's similarly why the Discovery Networks ended up being banal entertainment and not the PBS replacement they were purported to be. The pressure to abandon your focus eventually becomes too much.

With today's management, common sense goes out the window... Good thing TDO doesn't have as much say as they used too... Everything comes from the big guys in CA...
With that said, one rumored proposal had two attractions being built on the Speedway land... And I believe one was the Tron coaster... But, only a proposal, not an accepted green lit plan...

Ummmmm..... That's been the buzz... But also keep in mind it is just buzz at the moment, rumor... Though the Tiki Birds may actually be going away in the near future, doesn't mean it is for Club 33... Though, I'll suspect that may wind up being the case... Just me and my hunch, nothing verified...

Where have you heard?
And my hunch, well, is off... I understand Tiki is not being looked at for Club 33...

I saw a rumor this morning that Disney is considering a Starwars themed hotel near DHS.

The write-up on the questionnaire that was sent out was interesting. Sounds like this would be an "event" hotel -- 2 night packages geared to Star Wars experiences. Pricing seemed on par with Disney event pricing.

Focus is lost because costs are so high. This is the same reason why the Discovery and History have been reduced to "reality" type shows. The costs of producing the shows on those channels were having a hard time being recouped with ad revenue. For Future World, costs were supposed to be recouped by the sponsorship by companies. Disney knew the upkeep and refurbishment of these pavilions was going to be expensive. The model did not work for long or as well as they thought it would. So, Disney needs to reevaluate and change their focus to something that will be more timeless and have a lesser emphasis on having to keep up with a future that comes at us quick fast at this time and is more and more expensive.
