Disney's Polynesian Village Resort has come a long way since 1971. Recently
updated, the resort is more beautiful than ever and deserving of its
reputation as one of Walt Disney World's best. The South Seas are alive at
this sprawling resort, located directly south of the Magic Kingdom, on the
Seven Seas Lagoon.
The recent lobby renovation removed the much loved waterfall. The new space
feels open and airy, is decorated with an island/tiki style, and
features sweeping views of Seven Seas Lagoon. The lobby is located in the
Great Ceremonial House, the central building that houses the resort's guest
services, shops, and restaurants.
Rooms at the resort are located in one of eleven longhouses, which are two
or three stories each. Longhouses are named after islands found in the South
Pacific. Pathways between the buildings are paved with lava rocks and lit
with tiki torches at night. Lush vegetation can be found among the
buildings, lending a tropical island feel to the resort.
A new feature pool, with a volcano slide centerpiece, hot tub, and new kid's
splash area sits at the edge of the beach, providing an unforgettable view
of the Magic Kingdom. Trader Sam's, a popular bar at the Disneyland Hotel,
has made its way to the east coast. Trader Sam's Grog Grotto is bigger,
better, and extremely popular. At the Polynesian Village Resort, your 'ohana
will experience the spirit of the South Pacific in true Disney
fashion. Aloha!
