5th Sleeper at POR

Are you talking about a room w/ something more than the fold out bed for like kids?

I think they are wondering if they just created a new category for the old rooms that held 5 in order to charge more or if the 5th sleeper category is rooms that have a new design to hold 5.

Like I said, we have stayed at POR, in the Alligator Bayou section, with 5 for MULTIPLE times but never had a room with a 5th sleeper category (even last year when we went).

I know, in the past, they never had "preferred" buildings and we have always stayed in building 14. But, that changed a few years ago and they now charge more for those 4 preferred buildings So, I'm wondering if this 5th sleeper thing is new and if the 5th sleeper rooms are bigger, better, new or exactly the same....

I don't have a "for sure" answer for you, but I think they are the same rooms as before.

That 5th sleeper better be 4 feet tall and no more than a buck o five.

They used to have a trundle bed under the bed. It was basically a pulled out wooden platform with a mattress on it. I wouldn’t think it would be that comfortable except for a child. I know one of our daughters slept on one and I had to be careful not to step on her getting up in the dark at night.

The 5th sleeper category guarantees that you get a room with a child sized flip down bed. It can be booked by people that have a family of 4, but need 3 beds.

Alligator Bayou is the only section which contains flip-down beds. The bed itself is about 5'6" long and about 31" wide.

Trundle beds went away with the refurbishment that ocurred around 2014-15. They were replaced by Murphy beds that basically replaced the armoir area of the room. The Murphy beds have if I recall three "bins" underneath for storage.

They are exactly the same rooms as before, but you can now book it as a category to ensue you get a room with the fold-down bed. Before, you'd just book the view, and have to request the Bayou rooms with the extra sleeper.

We stayed in one the last time we were at POR (just a fluke) and actually booked one for this trip, even though it is just the two of us, since it was the cheapest option (compared to preferred/water views, etc).

Is it just a way for them to charge more? Or have the rooms been refurbished in the last year to make them different in some way for a 5th sleeper?

In the past, if you booked a room at POR with 5 guests, ages 3 and up, you were automatically assigned a room with a trundle bed and then after the refurb, a fold down Murphy bed. It was automatically assigned, no need to request it.

I'm looking at one site, and yes, it does appear that the "5th sleeper" label is a price increase, at least for Garden View, not sure about standard view. I believe this type of booking is for those parties of 4 or less that want a 3rd bed.

Not sure how it would work if you just made a reservation for 5 people, standard view. I assume you'd still get assigned a room with a Murphy bed but at the base rate? IDK, you wouldn't think there could be this many room levels, including the sliding scale depending on which day of the week.
