OK, I'm gonna sound like a cheapskate but here it goes......we missed the dates for free dining...ouch, it took awhile to get over it......and I want to suggest to the others in our party some of the better meals at a good value for their buck.....(CDN $ double ouch!)
We will probably do Cosmic Rays and Fairfax Fair, but do you have any other great suggestions? Tks.

Earl of Sandwich - good food and good value. Columbia Harbor House in the Magc Kingdom.

You could also do breakfast in your room prior to heading out to the parks.

Personally, though, I've found that the room discount you might be able to get without the dining plan often more than makes up for the cost of rack rate with dining plan - even when offered "free". In this circumstance, I've found I can eat what I want and where I want and still come out ahead of the free dining offer. There are only two of us - those with larger families report having had different results.

And if you have a AAA membership, you can get 15% off at Earl of Sandwich as well. Makes a great deal even better.

We really enjoy the food at The Plaza in MK. It's a sit down restaurant, and
entree's start at about $12.

If you are looking for a good reasonably priced breakfast buffet we like Boma at the Animal Kingdom Lodge.

Also Ft. Wilderness has a dinner buffet that runs around $25 a person. They have carved meats, ribs, chicken and all the fixings. It is actually very good.

Our favorite though is at CBR for dinner. You get a choice of carved turkey, roast beef loin, salmon or chicken with two sides, and cornbread for about $11. We ate this twice this last week and it was awesome. You actually get a lot of food. It is a nice meal if you are sick of hamburgers and chicken nuggets. We also found they offered this meal at Port Orleans Riverside to. It is well worth the money.

I second the suggestion of the Plaza at the MK. The Wave has a great breakfast as well as Boma. DtD we did well at Portabellas, cost wise. The food court at the FQ is pretty awesome and reasonable.....

Harbor House has a very good chicken pot pie that comes with a side of broccoli for around $10.

If you are at POFQ, Sassagoula Float Works (food court) has really good shrimp po-boys. They are about $10, but it is easily enough to feed two people.

Most TS restaurants give you a discount if you have one of the following : TIW, AP, DVC or Disney visa. Check the mouse perks app. for further info.

Don't you just love it when our dollar tanks just before a vacation?? Grin

We cringe thinking of a trip now. Try late lunches instead of dinner if you want to go sit down - they are a bit cheaper as well. Any lunches in Epcot are usually good bets too.

Enjoy!

Thank you so much for all your comments for "frugal" dining. We did get a good price on our rooms, thats true. Aside from two "must do" ADRs at Trails End (breakfast) and Boma (dinner) we are going to eat breakfasts in our rooms and check out some of these great suggestions. Cheers!

I am looking up Mouse Perks in the app store and it is not showing up. What should I be looking up as I would love to check it out. Thanks! :mickey:

We hear you with the $$ conversion struggle! OUCH!

Depending on what kind of dining experience you are looking for, we found Wolf Gang Puck Express in DTD to be a really great sit down dinner for the price. They have meatloaf with mashed potato etc. and great pizza, pasta etc. The prepackaged cookies are awesome and you get your own beverage etc. so you don't really need to tip huge. (Although as a former server I always tip too much). We personally like flame tree BBQ at animal kingdom which is counter service and amazing food! We find two of us can share one meal and we are full! I would suggest looking up all the different restaurants and certain sites will outline pricing. In this sort of situation its good to preplan because you don't want to walk into a restaurant and sit down... gulp and see the menu is super pricey!
We eat a bigger breakfast and dinner - no need for lunch!
Have a great time regardless! Bring some snacks!
