It's official! I'll be going to WDW this year (well 2016) from January 7th to January 14th :pixie: And it will be very special because my birthday is Jan 5th, so for once I'll be going during my birthday, rather than my sister's (in August). This also leads me to my question: What is typical Florida weather in January?
I haven't been to WDW in winter since I was a toddler and don't remember. What should I pack, regarding clothes? I plan on Disney Bounding so I need to know if I need long pants, long sleeved shirts, etc. Thanks! :mickey:

In January, you never know what you're going to get so you need it all - shorts, tees, bathing suits, long sleeves, jeans, coats, gloves etc. It might be warm and beautiful; it might be cold and cloudy or anything in between!

Ah, the January weather challenge.
When I look back on our pictures from January trips, I see a lot of jeans and t-shirts. Although it is VERY variable, I remember it being quite chilly in the mornings and at night, but decently warm during the day.

Like others have said you have no idea. We went two januarys ago. One night it was so cold watching illuminations Norway was selling out of their very expensive jackets. I was wrapped in a towel and had on multiple shirts. People had scarves and ear muffs on.
The same trip we walked around in shorts and t shirts.
Pack for it all, wear layers.

While I agree with others who have said it's extremely variable, I would disagree on the "pack everything" philosophy. Especially with weight limits on luggage these days that's not practical. Here's the thing on January - there is absolutely no telling what you'll have so check the forecast 3-5 days before you go and then pack accordingly. Drives my wife nuts when I say that because she wants to start packing 2 weeks out but any weather data beyond 7 days is bunk and because January is so variable you need to wait until you're in the 3-5 day range of arrival to have the best idea for the duration of your vacation.

I'm going to piggyback on this thread, since I'm also going to celebrate my birthday (4 Feb) on our first ever February trip to WDW. We'll be there 31 Jan - 4 Feb 16.
I'll be checking the forecast also. Thanks in advance.
Now if you can work some magic to insure that the weather in Philly won't interfere with our flight's timely departure, that would be great.::blush:

For our December, January, and March trips, we packed a couple of pairs of jeans, a couple of pairs of shorts / capris, t-shirts, a couple of long-sleeved t-shirts, one hoodie, and one zip-hoodie jacket for each of us. If the weather called for cooler days, we layered the long-sleeved t-shirts under our short-sleeved ones then took them off in the parks if the weather warmed up. We needed the jackets a couple of times but only once was that for all day. We ended up wearing both jeans and shorts as we had some warm days and some cool days.

And one of the reasons why I use convertible pants. Shorts when it's warm, pants when it's not. Saves on having to pack as much stuff.

I appreciate the thought, but I intend on Disney Bounding and women's clothing doesn't have many "convertible" features in general. Thanks!
