Rumors are flying that about a new restaurant for the West Side on Disney Springs... Watch for an announcement in the next few days, but, in the meantime, let's start guessing which restaurant will be shutting down for it's replacement.....
Bongo's????

Bongos seems likely. Or Wolfgang Puck Grand Cafe.

Bongos can roll out and I'd not miss it ... was not impressed at all. We did sorta like Wolfgang ... no guessing with Disney now days, they're doing things not easily anticipated as of late.

I saw on another site that Portobello at Disney Springs is closing and a new Italian restaurant is going in there. Maybe that's the new restaurant that the rumors are about. We actually ate at Bongos last year and we loved it. The food was delicious and the entertainment was great. I don't understand why it gets such poor reviews.
LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. (April 26, 2017) -- Levy Restaurants, a Chicago-based restaurant company which operates more than 100 food-service locations in the United States and Canada, is excited to announce the development of a new, Italian restaurant concept at Disney Springs. James Beard award-winner and Top Chef Master, Tony Mantuano, is leading the development of the restaurant, which will replace the space at Disney Springs currently occupied by Portobello Country Italian Trattoria. The new restaurant’s menu will feature dishes inspired by Chef Tony’s adventures across the many regions of Italy.
Saw this on another site... "In order to accommodate the large-scale renovations, Portobello closed its doors April 24 with plans for the new concept to reopen in early Fall 2017.
“We've been grateful to serve our loyal guests at Portobello for the last seven years,” said Andy Lansing, President and CEO of Levy Restaurants. “We look forward to welcoming our guests back to the location early this fall when we unveil a new concept at Disney Springs.”

It's not Portobello... Portobello is getting a make over and is staying Italian... But the talk of the new restaurant is for West Side... Portobello is in The Landing...

Sorry all, just need to wait a little bit longer... End of the month, press event...

OK so I have no idea what happened here... Originally the announcement was going to be the beginning of the month, then it was pushed off to this week's press event... And apparently, never happened... I really have no idea why...
Could be they weren't ready to make the announcement... Could be plans have since changed... Could have been bad info, though the info was from credible sources, vetted, and confirmed....
Weird.... If i find anything out, I'll be happy to pass it along!

We had the exact same impression. Great food. Great dancers. Great music.

Well, the information was released... Here is the news:
The new restaurant in the West Side section of Disney Springs will be Jaleo by Jose Andres... The restaurant will be Spanish dishes (from Spain) to Disney Springs... Paella will be one of the dishes available on the menu... The first floor will be a grab and go style storefront, while the dining eoom is on the second floor... Jaleo will be moving into Wolfgang Puck's location on the West Side...
So we have our answer to which restaurant will be coming to West Side and which one it will be replacing...

We've had Jaleo in DC for many, many years (we have a handful of Jose Andres' places) and it's pretty good. It's tapas, and not particularly cheap. But very nicely prepared food.
"You used all the glue on purpose!"
Jaleo is FANTASTIC! This is very exciting news!!!
