I always thought this hat should be at the entrance to Fantasmic. Makes so much more sense there although I know why they had to "cover" the Chinese Theater. But does this mean that the theater facade will be going away too? Did they resolve the dispute with the owners or did something else change?

I digress - Love the Hat. Fine - move it but place it elsewhere for photos ops - its so pretty at night.
Well? I have no feelings either way about the hat. I don't mind it, but I won't miss it, either. I WILL say that I have to agree with this Frozen sentiment. I just don't get the hype. I'll be in the parks in a few short days. I'm so curious to see how extensive the "Frozen-ification" (:D) really is? I'm getting a little nervous about it.Nice work, pal.

I researched this issue a few years back and could find no solid info about the supposed contract dispute in using the image of the theater. It seems to be an urban legend that sprung up when the hat was placed, and has been repeated so much that it has come to be accepted as fact. I guess we will soon find out!

I do not object to the idea of the hat becoming the entrance to Fantasmic or the Animation building.

Oh, interesting. I have heard it so many times I just assumed it was true.

I have never seen the Studios without the hat, but I have always felt it is an eyesore at that location and just plain in the way traffic wise. Two minutes ago I was getting quite excited about it's removal. Then I remember how many of the "new and improveds" of late have been anything but better. I just saw the YouTube video yesterday of the new lumberjack show at Epcot, it's really is not what I would call entertaining.

I feel cautiously optimistic with this move. As long as they don't put something else in its place. Remove the hat and all that other stuff that had begun to pile up around it. Make it more of an open space so we can improve the crowd flow issues at the park. That has been a big problem there for years.
Would love to see it at the entrance of Fantasmic or outside of the gates at the park entrance.
I first saw Disney MGM in 1990 with no hat and thought it looked great. When they put it up for the Y2K Celebration, it kind of made sense. It stopped making sense about a decade ago, though. Goodbye and good riddance.

I was never a fan of the big hat in it's current location. The hat itself is fine but it never made sense to me where they put it. Glad to see it's finally getting removed.
I loved when you could see see the Theater all the way back from the entrance.
I know others feel differently and don't know the Studios without the hat. Hopefully they find a "good" place and relocate it.
I like the idea of it becoming the entrance to Fantasmic, that makes perfect sense.

I have never liked it, though as others have mentioned, relocating it outside the entrance might be a good idea. I miss the days when you could look up the main street and see the Chinese theater

Someone mentioned the event stage looking forlorn without the hat behind it.
Easy solution, already done -- the event stage is gone. Yeah, I was surprised too. But there is no event stage in front of the hat as of my last visit, October 18.

Uh, you sure about that? I was there on the 19th and there was a rock band performing up there.

:mickey: HS obviously is undergoing major changes. But, they are needed. Hopefully the next five years will show progress that will last at least 10 years before it's time to change things again. Progress.
