This.
And I think even if you have the disposable income it can be disappointing. I am by no means not in favor of special events that require an additional fee. I've done character meals, parties, special Food & Wine events. I love the F&W and liked that they added new events, but I think overall I am starting to have special ticket fatigue.
In the last three months we have special ticket Star Wars events, special ticket Animal Kingdom events, the after hours Epcot party, the special access Frozen tickets , the Villains Party and now the Sinster Soiree. That's a lot of new ticket events. As someone who goes to the parks rather frequently, I'd like to see them put as much energy into the overall park experience as they are into coming up with new special ticket events.

So now hard ticket events have hard ticket events. Bring on the pay toilets!

Be prepared for more hard ticket events... Got to make that money up from the boondoggle that is My Magic Plus, magic bands, NextGen, and FP+ since, you know, it isn't tricking guests to spend more money (in other words, it's not working!!!), not the way the MBA's sold it to the BoD anyway...
You're dead if you aim only for kids. Adults are only kids grown up, anyway.

PirateLover;2430608 wrote: You're exactly right, but it still doesn't sit well. Does this event really need to be an additional $99 on top of the $60-$70 you are already paying per MNSSHP ticket? I doubt it. But, they know the villains are a hot commodity and for as many of us who can't or won't pay that price, there are double or triple that amount of people who are probably willing and able to pay for it. So can I blame them? No. Am I upset by this? Not really. Am I a disappointed? Yes. If I was an avid character hunter who wanted to meet the villains but didn't have much disposable income, I would probably be a little more upset at being priced out.
I get what you are saying, my question is though is it Disney's fault or Disney's responsibilty concerning someone's disposable income?
Example, I don't have enough disposable income to stay at moderate and up resorts, even the values [with out any discounts] are tough. Do I think the prices on their resorts are crazy? YES! However, I don't expect Disney to cater to me.
If I want more disposable income it is up to me to do something about that, not Disney.

Yeah, I don't think so Disney....I'll just eat my Halloween candy and take my chances with a villain meet and greet

Gotta love a hard ticket event for a hard ticket event.
To each their own, but disney isn't getting a penny out of me for this.
It's too bad the people that buy these add ons feed into the imaginative laziness that has taken over disney.
If people didn't buy tickets to these events, it might actually force disney to use some real imagination.

Of course not. That's why I said I'm not really surprised nor really upset by it. Doesn't mean I have to like it or agree with it. They have every right to milk their fan base and I have every right not to purchase a ticket.

I don't have a problem with it, if there is no demand for it i'm sure it'll go away. If there is demand I'm sure we'll see more offerings along these lines.
If you don't like it just don't go and you'll never be aware that it's going on.

I realize that I came off harsh in my original post on this topic....A knee-jerk reaction, as it were.
IF you want to participate in this "Villain's Sinister Soiree" event, you cannot do it UNLESS you also pay for a MNSSHP ticket. Why not, if you really want this to go over well, have it on the off nights when MNSSHP is NOT being held?
Would I pay the price either way?? Probably not, but I don't do M&Gs anyway. Others would love to do it, but would not be interested in the MNSSHP.

......and on the heels of the Vilians Unleashed mess that I attended, as my final "well it can't be that bad, right?" as far as hard ticket events go.
At least with this you know up front what you're getting (hosed), unlike the VU party where you had no idea before hand that:
1) the brown derby was open to anyone as a casual venue
2) that you should have gotten a treat bag when you left (we left at 1am, thanks Disney)
3) the event would be sold to anyone with money regardless of how many people that actually admitted
ok, ok I'll let the VU party go, just still so frustrated about it......ok, moving on....
Just waiting for the "Frozen festival of Food" at Cinderella's Royal Table at the MVMCP, cause you know its going to happen, or something similar.....

Well, for years a lot of people have been begging for a villain's character meal. Now there is one, at a premium price. Not begrudging the idea or the price. I just hope the people that choose to try it really enjoy it and feel that the ticket price was worth it. :mickey:
