Will the new King Kong Skull Island be open in September of 2016? This will be our first trip since 2009 and I am a big Kong fan wanted something to look forward to myself instead of Potter and Mickey Mouse.

First trip 1986 ...
Not enough since then!

I think in the last announcement it was only "Fall of 2016." Not sure if there has been anything more definite.

We love the KK portion on the backlot tour in Hollywood, and miss the old ride in Orlando. Looking forward to it.

Hope they add to the Jurassic experience as well.

Back in the day King Kong in Orlando was a favorite of me an my husband too. It was always a crowded attraction and we could never figure out why they choose that attraction to close.

Universal posted a blog this morning with more details about the story behind the ride.

We were at Universal 2 weeks ago and the façade looks absolutely amazing. Just WOW.

I "volounteered" to take my little niece on Pteranadon Flyers to get the best possible view of Kong. Genuinely looks like one of the most exciting attractions for a long, long time.

If anyone is interested, Universal is currently running a series of videos on Youtube explaining the back story for this new attraction. It is presented as a entertainment/documentary type television program called "Myth Explorers" similar to the programs that are popular these days. There are currently six episodes available each about six minutes or so. These not only explain the back story but also include a lot of views of the ride queue, ride vehicles and a quick look at the gigantic Kong animatronic. Also includes what appears to be scenes from a 360 3D. This is going to be an AMAZING ride!
