Is there a way to find out how forceful the roller coasters at Universal are? Big Thunder is about the most intense I can do at WDW. I'm hoping there is a way to find out which rides I can ride at Universal before we go.

Read the ride description on their website.. Also Youtube videos... Hulk goes upside down, does a launch, much like Rock N Roller Coaster... Dragon Challenge flips upside down too... As does Rip Ride Rock It...

If Big Thunder is your speed, you can ride Mummy for sure...

If BTMRR is your upper limit, I'd say you can do the Mummy and Gringott's as well as the Hippogriff ride at Hogsmeade.

Do not even think about Hulk, Dragon Challenge, or Rip Ride Rockit. These rides are SUPER intense, with speeds in excess of 50mph and very intense G forces.

Thanks for the info guys. I watched some videos of Universal last night. I am starting to get a little excited. It isn't all concrete and steel like I was expecting. It is good to know I can do some Harry Potter stuff. I am not a huge fan, but it will be fun to see the others get excited. Smile

Universal to us is a bit of a step up from a six flags style park. Yes, good coasters.. But hey, Ohio has two parks "cedar point and kings island" with the best coasters in the world. So, Universal has nothing for us. Id recommend the Mummy. If you want to venture beyond that....come to Ohio.
For me....Hulk is ok. But nothing I haven't ridden before. Nothing special.

I went to school in Dayton. Kings Island has nothing on Universal. And Six Flags isn't even in the same league...

Universal is every bit on the level with Disney.

Got to disagree....:twocents:

Oh, I do agree about six flags.....Never liked those places. Cedar Fair parks....Much Better....I.E. K.I, and Cedar Point.
So, I will..give you that Universal is beyond Six Flags....yes. K.I. No, I can't.

And just wait John.. With all in the pipeline for Universal, it will be better than Disney World with their tired, old, broken down and not maintained attractions...

Opinion.....of course. And, I of course...100% disagree.:mickey:
I dont recall anything being broke down...at WDW. As a matter of fact. All the attractions were open and looking as good as ever. Splash, Space...Big Thunder...Pirates...(which Im glad we went when we did) It gets a long refurb here soon. Haunted Mansion...just perfect. Not sure which attractions at any park are "broke down" that may have been a bit of an exaggeration, yes? The kids LOVED the new mine ride....thats a home run. And, all in all. Things just looked and was great.
Im not just talking M.K. All the parks looked great and don't recall anything broke or run down...or not maintained. I mean even at a six flags things are maintained.............

Here's how I rate Big Thunder Mountain as far as Intensity.
A few years ago, we went to Universal/IOA and rode Hulk, Dragon Challenge and Rip, Ride, Rockit, each several times in one day. The next day we were at MK and rode Space Mountain and Big Thunder. Comparing them back-to-back like that made me realize for the first time just how mild BTMRR was compared to big, tall, really fast coasters. Although it may not seem mild if you have nothing to compare it to, it is basically a kiddie coaster when compared to the much bigger coasters at IOA and Universal. As far as just physical intensity, I would say it is on par with the Mummy, although Mummy has more immersive theming and special effects (especially fire),

If the super coasters like Top Thrill Dragster, Kingda Ka, Superman, Millenium Force, etc. would be 9's or 10's on an intensity scale, then Hulk, Dragon Challenge, and Rip Ride Rockit would be 7 or 8. BTMRR would be a 3 or 4 compared to those.
