I'm looking for ideas for something I can give as a Christmas gift to a family that is taking their first trip to WDW for New Years. I thought about a gift card but I was thinking I wanted to do something more than that. I thought about sending something to their room but they are not staying at a Disney Resort, they are staying at one of the hotels near Downtown Disney. Any thoughts?

This is a tough one but I have a couple of thoughts!

Since they aren't staying on-property, they won't receive Magic Bands from Disney. You could potentially buy each of them a Magic Band in a color or design that they like.

Another idea I had was if you know if they have a dinner reservation somewhere, you could order a celebration cake for them. We went out for my Mom's birthday dinner at Tutto Italia and I called ahead and was able to order a cake. They were on the spot and brought it out when we were done with dinner and I don't recall even having to ask about it when we got there.

I would definitely consider the Magic Bands and maybe even skins for them if you go with plain ones. Not sure of the ages or the amount you want to spend but maybe an autograph book or special trip tees that co uld be autographed as well. Another option you could consider would be getting them the memory maker and encourage them to make the most of the experience by seeking out photopass photographers. So sweet that you are Disney personalizing their Christmas.

I was also going to suggest autograph books. You can buy them at Disney store online. Fat pens for the characters to hold is also a good idea.

Look under park merchandise at disneystore.com

I gave a gift card. I ran out of time and it was easiest. They returned from the trip yesterday and enjoyed it although they were somewhat overwhelmed by the crowds. I have to admit it was probably not the best time of year for a first visit. :mickey:
