I was able to get our fastpasses for our November trip this weekend and now feel like I'm in the final countdown! :mickey:

We have a two year old that will be going with us, so obviously we'll be utilizing the rider swap option for the rides that have height requirements. Here's my question. Our entire group of six adults have fastpasses for the same ride - say, Big Thunder. If we go up to the FastPass line, tell them we're doing the rider swap and three of us go onto the ride with they other three entertain the two year old, does the rider swap then override the fastpass, or do those three people that didn't use their fast pass have both their fast pass and the rider swap?

Thank you! It's our first time using rider swap so while we've been reading up on it we have no practical experience.

Although I've heard off the odd CM "requiring" that everyone have a FP+, all of my experience has been: the first set of riders have FP+, and the other riders will use the Rider Swap.

You really don't need to have FastPasses booked for the people who are going to enter using the "rider swap". I can foresee a mess if you have 6 people book a FP and then the second 3 to enter don't actually use that FP, which would mean the people who entered second will not have used their required 'first 3" FastPasses before they can book 4th, 5th, etc FastPasses.

I admit I don't have any experience with it after the recent changes to rider swaps, but if it were me I would not book FPs for anyone who is expected to ride using a rider swap, book those 3 people something different.

But for the specific point of "which FP will the Disney system use when I scan if I have both a regular FP and a rider-swap FP", it's an interesting question that I have not seen an answer to.

That's a good point. I hadn't thought of the unused fastpasses.

I have not tried this because my children have grown since the new FP system, but I have heard you can take advantage of the baby swap rules to get extra fastpasses ahead of your trip. For example, normally you can't get FP for both TT and Soarin. But if 3 of you got FP for TT and then the other 3 used the baby swap. The other 3 would get FP for Soarin' and do the same thing. You could do the same in MK by getting just 3 people FPs for different "baby swap" rides. Again I've never tried this but assume it would work based on the rules.
