Split stay and fastpasses

I have a split stay coming up in November. I THOUGHT that when booking my dining reservations and fastpasses that the date I could start making the reservations was based on the first day of the first part of the split stay, however I just hit the 180 day mark and I was only able to make dining reservations based on our first part of the trip and then when the 180 day make hit for the second half I was able to make the remainder of the reservations. Is that the same thing that's going to happen with the fastpasses? Can I only make fastpass reservations one half of the trip at a time?

Thanks all!

I'm surprised at that. Did you make two separate reservations or are they linked?

The way I understand it, if you are staying at different resorts - even for consecutive days - the reservations are separate for dining and FP+. If you change rooms at the same resort for some reason (for example, maybe spend 3 nights in one room at Beach Club, and then move to a Club Level room for a few nights), then the reservation is considered ONE reservation. I think too many people played games with the system - booking 3 nights on the front end at a resort they didn't intend to stay at - getting a jump on the reservations - and then cancelling the first part of the reservation - but keeping the reservations. Just something I heard.....

Well, I called and spoke with someone about it because I was pretty sure I was told that the two reservations were linked. Apparently the dining system is a little weird and if you want to make dining reservations through the two parts you need to call them, they make a 'false' reservation for you to make the reservations and then they can make them for your over the phone. You can't do it online, which was what I was doing since you can make them earlier. Plus I wanted to get back to bed as soon as possible and didn't want to stay up until 4:00 in the morning to call, especially since I assumed that they basically saw the same thing I did when I was making the reservations.

She also said that the fastpass system works a little differently and as long as the two reservations are showing up on your account and you have your tickets link you can go ahead and make them for throughout the stay.

Thank you for your quick replys.

Thanks for sharing! I didn't know they could do anything about the dining part ... wish I'd known that a couple of weeks ago! Glad to hear we won't have the same issue with FP's.

I wonder if anyone at Disney actually even knows how it works. You called and got the information you shared. About 3-4 months ago I called, and was told what I posted above - different resorts/different reservations/different dates to get reservations. Different answers to the same question!

I also never heard that they would help you out with the dining reservations if you call and ask about a split stay. Interesting. Thanks.
